Trump Is Taking On Water
The Federalist ^ | March 31, 2016 | Ben Domenech, Publisher

It was conceivable to see a realistic path for Trump not just to the Republican nomination but to the White House, but that situation is no longer operative.

Donald Trump has not had two weeks this bad since he got into the presidential stakes. His general election polling numbers tell the story: on January 31st, just two months ago, his RealClearPolitics polling average put Trump in a statistical dead heat with Hillary Clinton, trailing her 44-41 percent.

It was conceivable at that moment to see a realistic path for Trump not just to the Republican nomination but to the White House – that he redraws the map in challenging ways and would be a competitive campaigner at the least, even given the inevitable attacks of the Democratic machine. But that situation is no longer operative.

As it stands today, Trump is the only Republican who loses to Hillary Clinton by double digits. The two most recent polls, from Fox News and Bloomberg, find her up by 11 points and 18 points respectively. And a great deal of this has to do with Trump’s hardening opposition among women, particularly Republican women.

At the beginning of the Republican race, Trump was doing well among women, netting more than a third of their support. But a lot has changed since then – he peaked with Republican women in polling in December and has been declining ever since. His unnecessarily vulgar personal attacks – on Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina, and Heidi Cruz among others – almost certainly have something to do with that. But there’s something else going on recently which is hurting Trump: he’s not winning....

Stalin was against Hitler, that didn’t make Stalin a nice guy. The real question is not who is against Trump, since he has opposition from across the ideological spectrum. The real question is what is Trump for: I’ll list a few of the things he’s come out in favor of while on the campaign trail:
1. Individual mandate, the government using it’s police power to force individuals to buy a product.
2. Universal, government provided health care provided by and paid for by the government. Held out Canada and Scotland as role models.
3. Just advocated for higher taxes in Wisconsin.
4. Massive protectionist tariffs. (I’m not talking about retaliatory tariffs, which most people favor, but Trump is all for tariff’s on pure protectionist grounds and he isn’t smart enough to foresee any negative consequences. )

Things he was before until about 15 minutes before he launched his campaign.
1. Hillary Clinton. Praised her and donated to her, paid her to attend his wedding.
2. Abortion
3. Gay Marriage
4. Gun Control
5. Amnesty
6. 14% wealth confiscation from the evil rich.

The Founding Fathers believed in tariffs

That was before the income tax and the myriad of other taxes currently oppressing working America. Eliminate the income tax, capital gains tax, and a host of other economy killing taxes and I'm all for a tariff.

When Trump finally gets the nomination it is my hope that all of you cruzers-losers realize that you missed the biggest political upheaval since Lincoln. You were on the wrong side of history and hopefully you will re evaluate posting your opinions on a political website like this ever again. You are tainted. You should lose all confidence in yourself to evaluate politics rationally or participate in political discussions ever again. Your opinion means nothing perhaps dangerous is a better word.

Thanks, old friend........................

The Trump movement has 'FREEDOM' written all over it.

Based on a host of people, even here on FR, calling for a Trump dictatorship, I refute thee.

The sooner you get off the Cruz bandwagon the better. He can't win you know it. He is now an establishment tool.

You'll come around eventually.

If he continues to routinely insult any degrade any woman who crosses him

He fights. We need that.

Women who get into the arena are liable to get their asses kicked. That's the price of playing the Big Game.

Are you suggesting it should be otherwise? Women should be able to attack, even attack disgracefully like Megyn Kelly, and not get hit back?

When you find yourself doing the work of the enemy against a Threat to them its time to look at what you are doing. Its not right. Logically if he was one of them as you claim they would not be attacking him with your help.

I think it’s true that the anti-Trump forces have found a weakness, and that they are exploiting it successfully.

He’s a very smart guy, and he MAY have the self-knowledge to turn this around, but that’s not a given.

However, if he loses THIS WAY, the result will be very bad. It’s incredible to me that there are people here who believe that, if the Trump insurgency is defeated, that the GOP will allow Cruz to be the nominee.

It is not enough to fight. It matters how one fights.

How had Carly Fiorina offended, that he should call her ugly on television?

How had Heidi Cruz offended, that he should call her ugly to his millions of followers?

Sure, Megyn Kelly asked him a hard hitting question (a question he will be hearing over and over again in the Fall, I guarantee) but how does that jibe with Trump talking about her menstrual cycle on television?

I know that Trump does no wrong with some people. Like Trump says, he could shoot somebody in broad daylight on Fifth Avenue and not lose support. But for the rest of us, there is a line.

But the point of my post was that we can expect a steady stream of such bilge from President Trump, and this is going to have the effect of giving license to all the guys who have still not gotten the memo to behave in a similar fashion.

Women know this. That is one reason why this sort of nonsense costs him so much with the women's vote.

Welcome to Thug America.

Real men don't 'fight' women. Period. If your brand of 'conservatism' includes 'fighting' women and hurling school yard insults in lieu of civil debate then I want no part of it.

Even more, the Cruz people are weak classic conservatives who will take the theft laying down. They are SO USED to losing, it's their comfort spot.

Then you add in the religious zealotry factor and they have burning desire to have more proof that they are being persecuted and the ends draws near.

Donald Trump IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE. If elected, he will not govern in a conservative manner. If that is my 'attack' on Trump then so be it. But my 'attack' is not the same as the attack from the left and your trying to infer that is low down.

Whatever he is hes hated by the people we are fighting against. At minimum that means hes not one them. If he was as you claim they would not be doing that they are doing thats Logic.

The Wisconsin Delegates are NOT Winner Take All.

Even if Trump loses there, he still maintains his triple Digit Delegate lead.

Seems to be a whole lot of weight on what the Cheese Head Voters do.

Doesn’t matter, I Vote for the last man standing against the DemoncRat Nominee come November. It is entertaining though.

Real men don't 'fight' women.

Real men don't take crap from a _itch either. Women like Megan Kelly and Michele Fields want to play hardball with the big boys but cry like little girls when they get bruised. You want to play hardball dont expect to use your femininity as a defense.

Yes it was before all those taxes were implemented but they specifically stated that it was also to favor domestic businesses.
