Thanks to you both for your comments (Captain’s was on another thread). This is a good read if interested: http://www.greatamericanhistory.net/nomination.htm

It’s honestly disheartening to me that popular/assigned delegate votes would be usurped so easily. The GOP will have a hard time if this goes over. The average voter today is much more informed that those of the 1860’s.

I sure hope the delegates have a LOT OF MONEY tucked away for legal battles against Trump’s team - and Trump certainly can afford it!

I'm backing Cruz, he's my kind of guy!

I’m not sure I would agree with you that the voter of today is more informed than the voter of the 1860’s. Read some of the letters of Civil War soldiers, on both sides. Even the lowest ranked soldiers knew exactly what they were fighting for, and they could express their views in more eloquent terms than most of the Presidential candidates today.

I’m a delegate to the Iowa state convention. Iowa GOP rules for national delegates are that the first ballot vote is absolutely bound. A spokesman for the Iowa delegation will announce the bound vote without asking the delegates. I believe many otherstates follow the same procedure.

Iowa national delegates have not been picked yet, but it is highly likely (at this point) that the eventual picks will definitely lean Cruz on a second ballot. That’s based on the Cruz sentiment at the district and state level.

It certainly doesn’t mean nothing. The GOP is a private association. It wants votes for its candidates so it invites broader input in making decisions. GOP insiders would probably shut out Trump completely.

And I notice that all FR’s Constitutional originalists aren’t much interested in originalism when it comes to state sovereignty in regard to primaries and caucuses.

The “consensus choice” is obviously not the candidate with the most votes or delegates but the one who’s best at manipulating the rules. Actually it won’t even be him but instead the GOPe’s favorite. But all done by the rules so “we’re good, right”

I’ll have to give you that. I guess I meant as more informed, but sigh you’re right even in that regard. Looking at the people around me who don’t know Ryan from Bohner or even when the election is...

I guess the only difference today that matters is the instant information and the ability of the citizens to voice their dissatisfaction of the usurpation of the delegate votes. If it should happen.

I’ve noticed that. The GOPe is meeting in private with rich DEMOCRATS. Pelosi and Reid never meet in private with the Koch Bros starting with Senate races.

Turnabout is fair play in my book. It time for Trump to start entertaining the idea of supporting some 3rd party candidates down ballot.

The clear loser gets more delegates than the winner. And they wonder why the voters are in open rebellion and think the process is rigged.

None of this means anything. Trump will never get the nomination from the Republican wing of the UniParty. Forget the GOPe, the GOP will simply not allow it. There is NOTHING that can be done (politically) that can change that fact.

Twitter? Hahahahaha!

I was laughing when Twitter people found Ted and Amanda's matching temporary Churchill tattoos.

But I bet Ted wasn't.

I honestly do not know if it’s legal or not but Cruz is all politics at any price and Trump needs to be too

The narrative will always be Trump is wrong...had Trump tried aggressively for delegates outside the vote hed have been called ruthless and unprincipled

Cruz does it....he’s cunning ..

Tell me I’m lying

TRUMP BETTER BE READY TO DO ANYTHING SHORT OF A CLASS A OR B FELONY TO ENSURE HE GETS WHAT THE PRIMARY VOTERS GAVE HIM BECAUSE THE ESTABLISHMENT AND THEIR NEW BFF TEDDY WILL TAKE THEM.....AND BE APPLAUDED FOR IT AS SHREWD

Nope, he definately would be the designated loser, which is what this whole set up smells like.

Screw Lowry, he’s a weasel.

Cruz is going to follow his vendetta as a spoiler to the gates of hell as he paves the way for Hillary - that’s what I think about it. He’s probably past the point of no return as far as trying to help us win the WH because all he has left to sow are sour grapes. He should have seen the light and opted to be useful in the quest for the WH and tried to prep for a solid 2020 run - he may be ruining his opportunities as far as future runs as he works so hard to “take down Trump” that he ignores the consequences - might as well be a typical RINO in the Congress as he’s helping the other side more than ours now. Getting ready to demonstrate what “bitter clinger” means.
