Interesting analysis — he is making some good points.

I hope he is correct.

Here's his problem (and that of cruz).

In January, I watched Hillary attack Trump, calling him a hater of women.

He eviscerated her by bringing up the peccadilloes of her husband and her part in it. Two paragraphs, one tweet. The Clintons melted.

In December, Cruz in an interview said that those old sex issues were off limits to his campaign.

Later in a debate, Trump said that he would go after Islamists with not only waterboarding, but worse. Ted Cruz was embarrassed, and gave a pretty weak retort.

The point here is Trump put himself out there, risking his front runner status. He took stands that weren't expected, that were going to be attacked by the media, and used against him.

He took them on principle, fought for them, and is winning on them. Just these two examples, but everyone knows he's been doing that on every single issue since he began.

Yes, he's persuasive, but it's the issues he's taken up that are important. It's the fact that he can clearly form a narrative, and win against the media as no one can.

Cruz is learning, but he's just not ready. It's why Sarah Palin and so many others have chosen to go with Trump.

It is the sport of meticulously plotted domination.

This seems to miss the point. "Turning the board around" is an expression of confidence in ones abilities, not of "meticulous plotting".

You know, I don't even get it! What is he thinking ???

Hmmm, not so sure about that. We have a majority idiotic electorate that votes Democrat...no matter what. Its going to be almost impossible to defeat Hillary with all the blacks, hispanics, young entitlement crowd and guilty feeling whites out there.

I think Trump wins yuuge if he's up against Hillary.

The trouble though is the possibility that she will be taken out of the race if she appears to be a likely loser.

Then again, if Hillary is shafted she knows where the bodies are buried and would be able to collapse the democrats chances..she has them over a barrel. To get her out of the way might be difficult, even for a bunch of grifters like the democrat party.

What an election!

I hope he is right. Trump it’s the only one left.

Cruz has gone over to the dark side.

Well , it looks like Cruz has gone over to the dark side.....Lindsey Graham is supporting him, Jeb Bush is supporting him, Mitt Romney is supporting him I guess Ted is now one of them......He is now officially one of the GOP elitists....oh that nutcase Glen Beck is supporting him too...

Adams is quite right in identifying Trump's technique of appealing to emotion and making zero effort to put forth rational, logical arguments in the way that other candidates typically do. And Adams is correct that Trump has been a master persuader. It frustrates Trump's critics and rivals to no end that folks whom Trump has successfully persuaded are seemingly immune to being un-persuaded no matter how strong the evidence presented that Trump is factually wrong about something or that his positions are logically inconsistent. Adams is right. For many, facts and logic clearly don't matter. They are emotionally "all in" with Trump and nothing he says or does will change that. Trump himself nailed it with his infamous "I could shoot someone on 5th Avenue" comment.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so it's far too early to say whether Adams' ultimate conclusions are correct or not. It's pretty clear, though, that Trump's persuasive techniques aren't working with everyone. He's winning in some places with some voters but losing elsewhere (in some cases such as Utah quite badly). Thus, many voters are apparently immune to his charms. Adams assumes that the Trump-resistant are, or will be, a minority. We'll see.

And Ted is a yappy purse dog: “The dogs bark but the caravan moves on”.

Ted will get savaged by the Clinton/democrat machine.

I like Scott and as a Trump supporter I’ll take the flattering parts of his argument; that Trump is skilled at the “game” of winning in politics.

The unflattering implication; that Trump’s appeal is 100% emotional and zero percent rational - I beg to differ. First of all, the “game” analogy (chess) is not 100% appropriate. There is winning the presidency and there is being a good president once elected. Two different things. With chess winning is the whole point, and after you win there is nothing except maybe starting another match.

While there may be some supporters of various candidates who care more about their ‘team’ winning, Hoorah!, and not much about the fate of the country under that leadership, I trust the vast majority of people are not of that ilk.

People want their candidate to win not for the sake of winning, but because they believe they would make a better president. Certainly, Trump supporters are proud of their candidate’s skill at winning, but let’s give them a tiny bit of credit here: they also look forward to being proud of their candidate’s skill at being president, once elected.

Also, feeling strongly (an emotion) about issues such as open borders, rip off trade deals, weakness against ISIS, corruption and incompetence in DC - does not preclude rational thought about those issues. Just because one ‘feels’ angry and frustrated, does not mean one is irrational.

I've been saying it for years:

Republicans have forgotten how to:

1. Sell

2. Appeal to the voters

3. Look attractive

3. Deal with the media

4. Craft a message

5. Many other things

I think Rush said something VERY profound the other day, that nobody else has mentioned.

The current Republican party is not organized for or has the goal of winning elections.

Think about that for a while.

If that is the case, and I think it is, then it explains a LOT of the events of the last 20+ years.

Tripe. If you think this is just about Trump you are really mistaken. If you think it'll all get back to "normal" after he's gone you are sadly mistaken. The globalist that run the GOP have had their 40 year destructive run. It's over for them.

This is way bigger than Trump.

He is running on our emotions, Adams says, and sly appeals to our own human irrationality.

"If I am not for myself, who will be for me?" Trump!
