The prominent conservative founder of Hobby Lobby on Sunday endorsed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for president while ripping apart GOP front-runner Donald Trump
David Green, founder and CEO of the arts-and-crafts chain store, said he will vote for Rubio this week in his home state of Oklahoma, which is one of a dozen states holding primaries on Super Tuesday.
"Marco Rubio has impressed us with his preparation and the way he carries himself. But most importantly, Marco regularly exhibits humility and gives the glory to God," Green wrote in a statement.
"I don't see humility in Mr. Trump, and that scares me to death," he said.
Green is a devout Christian who won a key battle against ObamaCare's birth control mandate at the Supreme Court in 2013. His endorsement of Rubio strikes a blow to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), an evangelical Christian who is battling Rubio for second place in most primaries on Tuesday.
Green is among several high-profile conservatives who are coming out in support of Rubio in the past week, as Trump is increasingly seen as the party's likely nominee.
"Our family business that we began with $600 has quite possibly been more successful than Mr. Trump's, but that doesn't make either of us qualified to be president. And unlike Mr. Trump, we give all the credit to God."
Understatement of the Year award winner!
LOL! He certainly got that part right.
I’ll give him that, but he’s made the wrong move by endorsing Rubio.
Folks like Rubio are driving America into the ground with ever increasing spending and debt.
2017 is going to be the year when the people we send to Washington turn the screws tighter on working people with higher taxes disguised as ‘tax reform’ to cover the 18-20 trillion dollars of debt.
I see your Hobby Lobby boss and raise you a Jeff Sessions.
Me, as well. I’m frankly quite surprised by this endorsement. Says a lot about David Green that I had not expected.
They are not very good at voting R come November either.
Or he likes foam parties?
Ugh. I will never shop at Hobby Lobby again.
I find the Green endorsement disappointing
Impport chinese workers so he can sell Made in America goods.
Hobby Lobby who pretends to be ‘special’ by closing on Sundays, endorses an open borders lover who will let in just anyone?
Hobby Lobby who sells mostly crap from China, any day but Sunday?
No thanks...
Exactly!
