Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump on Sunday said he and Democratic primary candidate Bernie Sanders "very much agree" on trade.
"Well it's very interesting that you say that, because the one thing we very much agree on is trade," Trump said on CNN's "State of the Union." "We both agree that we're getting ripped off by China, by Japan, by Mexico, by everybody we do business with."
Asked how he would differentiate himself with the Vermont senator to New Hampshire independents who may be torn, the billionaire businessman said he will actually be able to do something to correct trade imbalances.
"The difference is, I can do something about it. I'm going to renegotiate those trade deals and make them good - and, believe me, they're going to be really good," he said.
"Bernie can't do anything about it, because it's not his thing," he added. "He won't be able to do anything about it. I'll create absolute gold out of those deals, whereas right now we're losing tens of billions and even hundreds of billions of dollars."
"I will create gold, and Bernie will just talk about how bad they are."
The standard TRUMP reply is “Believe me, It’s going to be real good”.
No specifics, no real policy positions, just an appeal to the idea that somehow, mysteriously, he is going to do something and it’s “going to be GOOD!”.
Glad you’re coming over to the Donald Trump side!!!
Trump did a great job with Tapper. I have to believe he had the questions in advance.
Agreeing on one issue doesn’t make Trump and Sanders anything like each other.
And Trump is right. Trump is equipped to renegotiate the trade deals and turn them around. Sanders isn’t. None of the other candidates are.
You forgot “absolute gold”! What is there not to trust!?
What political naive people don’t understand is that you don’t giv away your playbook to the enemy. That’s just plain stupid.
Oh please, that’s just plain stretching things. It seems easy to agree with a liar and a cheater though, doesn’t it?
The guy can “TALK” because he as actually NEGOTIATED deals.
WHO, out of ANY of these candidates have NEGOTIATED .... ANYTHING????
Trump and Sanders also agree on getting rid of Super Pac money.
What is the opinion o f our bought and paid for Republican candidates left in the field?
Do I hear, crickets?
Oh, Bernie Sanders is correct on the glass steagall banking act of 1933.
If Bernie says the sky is blue, it don’t make the sky black, folks.
Yes, I agree with Don Trump now and then.
Well, you support Trump so it must be easy for you to agree with a liar and a cheat.
As Donald said, Bernie can identify the problem, but has no idea how to fix it.
Sanders think ttip is a disaster , so does Trump. A broken clock is right two times a day and on this Sanders is right
If Trump was talking about enabling competition by moving away from restrictive gregulations and cutting back on the deals that fuel crony capitalism, I might be interested. Enhance competition within the USA, by sun setting regulatory nightmares for the little guy. Reduce oppressive state and federal control so medium and small businesses can succeed.
Ted Cruz ran a major section of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or didn’t you know that?
Doanld is much more truthful than any greasy, sleazy politician. His past is his past - we are talking current events which involve voter fraud. You can’t seem to get that through that brick between your ears.
The only kinds of deals Trump has ever negotiated were real estate deals. He’s as dumb as a post on political issues. He repeats the same old crap that sounds like a third grader. The only thing he changes are the insults to other people. The man sounds like a thirteen year old “Mean Girl”. We have never had a man more mentally unstable running for President.
