Delegate Patrick L. McDonough, a staunchly conservative Republican, will announce Friday that he will try to unseat Democratic Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger in November, saying he hopes to be part of a conservative revolution in this deep-blue state.
Mr. McDonough, who has represented Harford and Baltimore counties in the House of Delegates for 17 years, said that heâs grown tired of what he derisively calls the âMaryland General Asylumâ and that heâs ready to try to make an impact at the national level.
A fan of GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trumpâs immigration policy, Mr. McDonough said he wants to use that and foreign policy as attacks on Mr. Ruppersberger, a six-term congressman who has easily won re-election.
â[Mr. Ruppersberger] has supported President Obamaâs extremist and unlawful policies that promote amnesty and weak enforcement,â he said. âObama Dutch is truly Amnesty Dutch.â

I certainly applaud McDonough’s political courage in running in such a difficult district and wish him well.
Wow, Pat McDonough is a SOLID conservative and a fighter. It will be a tough seat for him to take from the ‘RATS—but, perhaps, 2016 will be the year for it.
OUT with the RINOS!!!
I can’t wait to cast my vote for mcDonogh. He’s a good guy who doesn’t suffer fools.
He arranges a flag waving party on a bridge across I-95 on September 11. It’s an awesome event.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
The MD rat gerrymander disgusts me. Watch em try to get CD 1 next time. We could have 4 seats with a good map, rats are concentrated in Baltimore and the DC burbs.
