4 months ago, I was donating to Cruz, I’ll vote for him in the general if it comes to that but I’m deeply disturbed at his wifes CFR paper outlining the removal of US sovereignty.

When you get your info from the HuffingtonPuffington Post you might want to consider the source.

Actually, at this point I would like to see each of them win majorities in half of the primaries after Iowa through the SEC contests.

Santorum was down 15 at this point in 2012... and Cruz has a much better ground game.
Cruz wins Iowa by 10.

There has been no increase in voter registration in Iowa for Repubs or Dems. Perhaps new voters will register at the caucus sites?

Here is the meat for those who don't like to take the time to read the articles:
Influence: While Trump and his supporters claim his billions insulate him from donor influence, Trump does not understand Washington. To achieve his "dealmaker in chief" ambitions, Trump will need guidance from the establishment. At least, that is what conservative lobbyists and Republican leaders are banking on. In contrast, while Ted Cruz's Senate seat makes him the DC-insider on paper, his aggressive independence has garnered the GOP establishments open disdain. Cruz is hated on Capitol Hill. Where Trump is seen as influence-able, Cruz is seen as impossible. John McLaughlin of the McLaughlin Group sees it similarly - ''Populists are easier to control than plotters. Populists are givers - plotters are takers.''

Trump wins the Caucus- Yuge win for him.
Cruz wins the Caucus- no where near a death blow for Trump.
Someone other than Cruz or Trump wins the Caucus- Yuge win for Trump.
Think 3D. Multiple paths to victory.

“Ted Cruz has a chance to dethrone master-populist Trump”
And fails miserably. But that “you’re fat and stupid” joke at the beginning was a real side splitter.
