DORCHESTER, S.C. - Responding to a report that said he did not disclose a loan from his wife's employer during his 2012 U.S. Senate campaign, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz called the issue a "technical and inadvertent filing error" that he will fix if necessary.

Remember the deal. Cruz voted for TPA cloture, McConnell promised not to bring up the EXIM bank, McConnell did bring up EXIM, and then Cruz called him a liar.
McConnell got what he wanted and Cruz got cover for his vote.
Kabuki Theater?
Excellent!
GOPe and GOPe subversives always have an excuse for losing!
I live in a world where I’ve taken out margin loans at discount brokerage account at lower interest rates than Goldman offers. All I needed to do was write a check. Could I have liquidated the stock instead of going on margin? Sure - but I would have passed up any gains on the stock.
Super PAC research team. Either Jeb or Rubio.
Actually I was laughing about that. You Trump supporters can talk about it all you want. Fact is that Cruz is running in good standing with all the required structures of the race.
Let’s put aside legal arguments as the misinterpretations are going nowhere for you people. The most that happens is that the Democrats bring a case to SCOTUS (doubtful because they know they will lose). Take a look at the current SCOTUS and tell me with a straight face you expect a ruling against Ted on this.
Ted wins his case that was fast tracked and viola... now he even looks like he was endorsed by SCOTUS.
Win-Win for Ted Cruz.
Thanks for adding FRiend. :)
Thanks for the educated explanation, but this isn't about the propriety or legality (or even morality) of the loan. It's about appearances, and Ted's reaction to this revelation.
I don't think he handled it well. He came off like he had something to defend or be ashamed of. Too bad he doesn't have someone like you to counsel him as to how to explain it. Would have popped it like a soap bubble.
Doesn't really matter. If Trump is doing so, kudos. If Cruz has anything good on Trump, he really needs to unload on him now. The GOP nominee needs to go through a baptism of fire, because the Democrats and the media definitely won't give him a break after the nomination. Whomever he turns out to be, we need a fireproof candidate.
Oh,Oh...........LOL.
This stuff about the loan? That's someone/s else.
The thing about Trump is that everything about him is a pretty open book and has been for decades.
But you're right.....in the general, the DEMS will go after our nominee tooth and claw. Trump can handled that, though. The others? HELL NO !
The sticking point is NOT the loan....it’s that Cruz didn’t report it !
Damage has already been done and things are going to only get worse for Cruz.
Per the PPP, 50% of Iowa Republicans won’t vote for a guy born out of the country.
Trump sensed this, and it’s why he brought up the Constitution issue. He doesn’t really care about that, it was a way to bring up Cruz’s foreign birth and Cuban dad.
It’s over for Cruz.
This margin issue is a big nothing, unless they got some special deal on it.
It’s Win-Win for Ted.
Look up my prior post.
"You people"?
Listen, I'm doing my best to keep this conversation civil. Yes, I support Trump, but I'm no enemy to Cruz. He's simply not my first choice for Prez in this election.
As for your insistence that Ted would beat back a challenge to his eligibility before the Supreme Court, there's no guarantee that he would, except in your mind.
Given the makeup of the current court, it could go any which way. I actually hope that this current court never rules on it, because I don't trust them to rule in favor of the Framers' original intent.
Opinions about the definition of 'Natural Born Citizen' are wide and varied. There aren't just two sides to this - there are several. I'm sure you're aware of the many battles that have been fought over the issue right here on Free Republic. They've been fought across cyberspace, and even before there was an internet. Sadly, it's something that the Framers didn't carve in stone, and it's become a devil of an issue for all of us.
Especially Ted Cruz.
Who is saying ?
The biggest issue with Cruz is the whole Dominionist thing, which renders him unelectable in the general.
That's half of my point. The other half is, Ted basically responded to this revelation with, "Ooops!"
Geeez, Louise. He couldn't have handled it worse.
You're not only wrong, but don't know how to "count noses"; as the old time backroom boys used to say. But I do and it has NOTHING at all to do with whom I'm for.
TRUE...he did NOT handle this well at all.
"You people"?My goodness you are hyper sensitive!Listen, I'm doing my best to keep this conversation civil.
It's funny you say I have no guarantee when you are the one that started to me with your opinion. Which didn't stop you! LoL!
Nothing in your response changes the most likely Win-Win scenario for Ted. I was thinking this doesn't hurt Ted but now you convinced me it will greatly help him. Thanks. :)
Seriously, when "You people" becomes a flashpoint of aggression for you... take a rest. (I even called you FRiend...sheesh)
Cruz isn't Obama, Rangle, nor Reid or even a Clinton. He can't get away with crap and saying "OOPPPPPPPPPS" doesn't help his case any at all.
Like whomever you care to, but PLEASE don't expect other to swallow, as whole cloth, the drivel you're promoting.
