It was somewhat convoluted.

This is a pretty major issue, and Trump seems to be on the wrong side of it.

Only when you are looking at one tree in the forest. Doing that that is deceiving one’s self. Not my problem.

I’m not sure if you saw it today, but Cruz has said he won’t attack Hillary based on Bill Clinton’s sordid history.

As I recall, that worked out real good for Bush and Dole, so well that McCain and Romney adopted it with Obama.

This does trouble me.

We need to take the gloves off and put everything on the table.

I appreciate the comments.

But you don’t care what he was actually saying, you just want a talking point.

I've noticed you Trumpers don't care what he actually says either. You'll manage to spin it and say, "Well what he really meant was..." just so he doesn't appear to be the moderate he actually is.

It’s not convoluted at all if you think about it. All the people who state as absolute, exclusive, truth - “Trump is single payer” - are looking at one tree. Therefore their conclusion cannot be anything other than fatally flawed. Like I told sitetest; if the databank is corrupt and incomplete any conclusion drawn from it will be fatally flawed. To form accurate conclusions the big picture, every tree in the forest, needs to be thoroughly and objectively examined.

I shouldn’t have to be saying this here on FR because this concept is elementary to a critical, logical, and objective thinking process.

I am going by what he said. You don’t have private companies competing interstate in a single payer system. He has talked about that many, many times.

In California what we had before mirrored some of this.

We had private insurance at a third of the price with $2000 deductibles.
Obamacare has me paying $430 now with a $6500 deductible for poop insurance.

Broke jokes can qualify for medical, which is state government here before and now.
There was the problem of people walking into hospitals when their health was totally failing from a life of neglect or for a cold all with no insurance.

I would get rid of Obamacare.
I would offer private insurance again without it being used to fund the indigent.
I would allow cross state competition.
I would have major tort reform and reduce the liability to doctors and the cost of liability insurance to doctors.

I would eliminate that anyone can be treated at the emergency ward.
The emergency ward should have the right to send you to a clinic with no liability, especially if you are not a resident or citizen unless you are dying.

Bring back catastrophic policies.

Give anyone who is without insurance who are residents legally or citizens Medicare and only chase after them if they have assets.
Only stabilize those not here legally splints and pills mostly at clinics and send them off to find healthcare home. Or make them pay for it like they do in many countries.

That is where I’d start.

“I would have major tort reform and reduce the liability to doctors and the cost of liability insurance to doctors.”

That exact question came up at the townhall I attended for HC reform. It got left in the dust of a debt growing to 19 trillion. Basic problems like that cannot be ignored - yet they always are. Aren’t like 100% of politicians lawyers?? The system fatally flawed.

He's for both. Whatever you want to hear.

This is why I steadfastly maintain that Trump is NOT a conservative - he is a populist. He is brilliant at reading the mood of the public and modifying his positions to be in line with whatever the current popular position is. He is not concerned with what the Constitution says or what the conservative principle would be in any situation.

Once he thought Romney was too extreme in his position on immigration - now he is an immigration absolutist.
Once he thought wages were too high - now he thinks they are too low.
Once he was in favor of single payer - now he is in favor of something else.
Once he was in favor of a "wealth tax" - now he is not.
Once he thought Trey Gowdy would make a great AG - now he attacks him because Gowdy endorsed Rubio, and so on...

On issue after issue, Trump changes his positions to be whatever he thinks the public wants, and his supporters don't care. It never seems to occur to them that if he perceives the public mood swinging against building a wall or deporting immigrants or against any other issue they now support, then Trump will change his position again. He has no core principles - just whatever will please the audience at the time. And he will attack and try to destroy anyone that opposes him.

Okay.

Just let me know when you’re going to announce to millions of senior citizens that they’re going to lose their Medicare. And when you announce that you’re cutting millions of pregnant women and children from Medicaid. AND that you’re shutting down the VA.

I want to be braced for the riots.

“The government” = taxpayers, so taxpayers will foot the bill for Trump’s “taking care” of everyone? No thanks.

As I mentioned another place on this thread, I’ve spent nearly 18 years here.
During that time I and others have longed for someone willing to take on our cause, drop bad policy and adopt better policy.
Now a guy does it, and he his trashed for it.It really makes me wonder why some folks come here and champion good policy.
If someone adopts it, they aren’t happy anyway.

A Consistent Conservative is the kind of politician I’ve been looking for and based on his actions and words Trump isn’t that.
Being a billionaire, writing books or occasionally saying the right thing isn’t enough to erase support for liberal ideas or politicians or attacking Conservative from the leftwing narrative.

Thank you for your perspective.

I haven’t seen any Trump supporters making the claim he is perfect.

We have seen what’s in his platform and like it.

If you don’t, that’s okay with me.

I am nowhere near as convinced that Ted Cruz is the Mr. Perfect his supporters are convinced he is.

I don’t say Cruz is perfect only that he is consistent. I look at his actions and trust him more than Trump.

I think if Trump was involved in the Conservative movement longer then I would give him the same support his supporters give him. That goes for Carson as well.

A lot of people said Obamacare was designed to fail in order to usher in single payer....

How can anyone on FR think Trump is ok if he wants single payer government run health care ?
