The first-in-the-nation Iowa Caucuses are technically 56 days from now. But if you account for the upcoming holidays, when most Americans tune out politics in favor of yuletide cheer, thereâs really 50 days to go.
And how Iowans may ultimately turn out come February 1, could very well be decided this week.
Thatâs because word on the street is thatâs when Bob Vander Plaats and The Family Leader, the last remaining coveted endorsement of the cycle, are schedule to unveil which of the candidates they will put their considerable influence behind....

You can’t win if you don’t play. And they are several to a room, so it’s not as much as you might think.
For the love of GOD!Stop having Iowa go first and pick a competent state to go first
Iowa is not the only state with a caucus.
Whatsamattah, never been to an oyster roast in a snow storm? lot ‘n lots of fun.
Good point.
Ronald Reagan lost the Iowa Caucus in 1980, and we all know how that turned out.....40 state win in the general election after winning the nomination.
Unfortunately, Maine has a caucus, and it’s a pain in the a$$.
I would much rather have a primary.
I think the “rumor mill” option has been engaged and it says that Trump doesn’t win Iowa. That one is about the least expensive of the first tier of typical tricks in the sticks, and virtually anybody can play, right? Hillary, Cruz, Carson, GOP operatives in Iowa, etc., etc.
You got it, in spades!
Seriously?
I mean, they were saying Cruz had spent very little campaign money and yet 500 volunteers aren’t cheap to house unless their Aggies, of course.
Who pays for all that housing? PACS, you think?
Or the campaign?
Iowa is must be very important to Cruz for some reason, to carpet bomb the state with bodies and apartments.
Iowa is all about organization in every precinct in all 99 counties. Volunteers and paid staff are both critical in Iowa.

Yes, but it is always the first state to have one. That should end as it is not a good representation of the country as a whole.
Harry Potter’s JK Rowling piles on:
Thanks, Vet.
I read that they’d rented 24 apartments. I guess they take sleeping and shower shifts?
They’ll probably only be sleeping in those apartments, they should be busy the rest of the time. The apartments are just down the street from the airport and Des Moines itself is at the junction of I-35 and I-80, making it the crossroads of the United States.
LOL!! Gotta beee.
If you have to carpet bomb Iowa, you sure don’t hear much about Trump’s forces, but he whacks the polls there! Go figure.
So what’s all the expense about if Trump is a tight wad!
He claims $165,000 at the last accounting of the candidates expenditures!
Are you going to be there?
