Politico noted on Friday that Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a candidate for president of the United States, has said the first thing that has come out of his mouth that could be construed to be remotely negative about Donald Trump. Cruz stated in an interview that will run Sunday on WABC that he does not think that Trump will win the Republican nomination and that most of the mercurial businessmans voters will gravitate to the man from Texas. The statement was so mild and obvious that if said about anyone else it would not be news. Indeed, a Trump spokesperson simply begged to disagree on Twitter.
But, as Hot Air reminded us, Donald Trump is no ordinary candidate. He has both a volcanic temper and a thin skin that has manifested many times in incendiary attacks on opponents and members of the media. The nation is now hushed, awaiting the explosion. Will Trump call Cruz a loser and will he go full bore birther on him?
To be sure, Cruz sweetened his observation with praise....

Oh, I see. Your name was not known to me, only having come aboard after Oh, the dark won was elected-the first time. You are only a few years older than I, but I’ll continue to ‘respect’ my elders. You weren’t for the horsesass,Trump, but you’ll now go with him if he succeeds. You dislike Cruz and believe him to be part of the establishment You think America needs to be educated, better educated in politics (don’t we all?) You have made some good points, but your rapid fire and demeanor should be slapped down now and again. If you are, indeed from Texas, and you were educated in America and know our political system and realize it is not WTPs system, but the system of our government. We get the leftovers and most times it gags us (as much as Bo-Rock’s laughable Affordable Health Care law). So, we get the lemons and attempt to make lemonade. Donald Trump may not have all the attributes a conservative would consider, but he does have a hell of a lot of U-mph and money...enough to enable him to do what is needed. Give us true conservative candidates and we would work just as hard to see they were elected. What do you think of Sarah Palin? An Airhead or a Betsy Ross, Dolly Madison? Yes, realize she has no dog in this hunt but your answer will say a great many things about you. You, sir, are a busy bee...Like Batman you swoop in, with bullet (we can still say THAT WORD, can’t we) precision comments right down the thread. Are you originally from Texas, or relocated to God’s Land? Catch you later.
From tons of people. Each person can only give a certain amount to a campaign per year. So if he just raised another 12M, that’s quite a lot of people.
Nowadays, when Cruz does something commendable or newsworthy, they just lose their minds over it.
Pay for play, Quid Pro Qou, cronyism may all be "strictly legal but so is killing children, running a deficit, and K street lobbyists writing bills and donating to political campaigns. The question is not if an action is "strictly legal" but if it is moral and right. I am not all that interested in a more effective corruption, but in the elimination of it.
Unequal scales, that is by virtue of what a citizen can do for a candidate determines legislation that is passed or enforced. Unequal access, unequal justice are obvious examples.
And why not answer the other questions?
It is not wise to argue with a fool, it is akin to wrestling with a pig. You just get all muddy and the pig stays dirty but enjoys the exercise.
Trump doesn’t want to attack Cruz. Trump is completely outgunned mentally by Ted, and would be reduced to the usual flailing, yelling, and grade-school level sentences.
When Cruz (and I like Cruz a LOT) does even one rally like this; http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3347115/posts get back to me.
Trump is doing rallies like that four+ times a week! He’s doing practically 10x the number of pressers anyone else is doing. Cruz isn’t matching that, not even close.
Debating abilities isn’t what the country needs. It needs someone with common sense business experience. That is where Trump trumps everyone else, including Cruz.
This is a non issue. All candidates say they are going to win.
Obama had some big rallies as well!
Wrong again, Catherine. Trump and Cruz are both intelligent in their own ways. Trump has legitimate criticisms he can level at Cruz, and is more than capable. You’re unable to grasp the unique intelligence that Trump has. That’s a poor reflection on you, not on Trump.
I like Cruz very much. I worked to get him elected to the Senate, and I hope he manages to get the Presidential nomination.
I thought it was YOU, not me who accused Cruz of being GOPe. Am I wrong?
Those kinds of crowds will come for Ted Cruz.
Neither Obama nor Cruz has the business experience Trump has. Neither has actually used terms like “corporate inversion” at a policy proposal presser. Huge difference.
Trump represents the best hope of getting things like the debt and economy turned around. He has a way better network of common sense business based contacts than anyone running. I’d love to see Cruz in a Trump administration but not stand alone.
“Those kinds of crowds will come for Ted Cruz.”
When? It needs to be happening now. It isn’t because he’s not offering what Trump is - hope. Trump offers hope because of his demonstrated life long business record. Trump has proven he knows economics. No one else in the race has that to offer.
More people are buying what Trump is selling than what any other republican candidate is selling. That is why his rallies dwarf the rallies of others. Trump is selling tangible hope - people believe Trump will do what he says because of his proven business record. Trump said today the American people are smart - smart enough to know what will actually economically work - that is what Trump is offering in a way no one else is. Trump is THE ONLY one I’ve heard state outright we need to drastically pay down or pay off the national debt. He’s the only one who’s addressed the funds stuck offshore by corporate inversion. That is the kind of thing that is resonating with the American people. That is why the Trump rallies trump those of all other candidates.
.
Cruz never speaks wishfully.
He simply makes logical observations.
He is correct. Cruz will be the last man standing.
Yes, hope and change! I know I have heard that once before. Second verse same as the first.
Trump and Cruz or Cruz and Trump are all good for me.
.
There are no negative aspects to Cruz’ political career.
He is the only candidate that has done anything at all for the people of the US.
