Paul and McConnell have support each other.
Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday said fellow Republican presidential candidate Ted. Cruz is done for in the Senate.
Ted has chosen to make this really personal and chosen to call people dishonest in leadership and call them names, which really goes against the decorum and also against the rules of the Senate, and as a consequence, he cant get anything done legislatively, Paul told Fox News Radio. He is pretty much done for and stifled and its really because of personal relationships, or lack of personal relationships, and it is a problem.
Paul, a Kentucky Republican who has had the backing of his home-state senior senator, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, despite some tough policy differences, had been asked about Cruzs inability to even muster the support of 11 senators to secure a roll call vote on a procedural motion designed to amend the continuing resolution to keep the government running.
The Senates set to vote on passage of that measure at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the last day of the federal governments 2015 fiscal year.
I approach things a little different, I am still just as hardcore in saying what we are doing, I just chose not to call people liars on the Senate floor and its just a matter of different perspectives on how best to get to the end result, Paul said in the interview.
Paul backed McConnells 2014 re-election bid. Cruz had accused McConnell of lying to him about the way forward for the revival of the Export-Import Bank in the Senate.
Like Cruz, Paul opposes the CR advanced by McConnell to avoid a shutdown later in the week. But Paul has focused his criticism on the use of the stopgap spending vehicles. Paul would have rather seen more pressure put on Democrats to advance the dozen individual appropriation bills.
I would defund not only Planned Parenthood but hundreds and hundreds of regulations, hundreds and hundreds of wasteful programs. I would take them all out, put them on the table and say You know what Democrats, it doesnt take 60 votes to defund something, its actually going to take 60 votes to fund any of these programs, vote on them one at a time and we will see how many of these crazy programs get 60 votes. My guess would be very few, but that would take the courage to let the spending expire and start anew and let new programs all require 60 votes to pass, Paul said.
McConnell signaled Tuesday he intends to call additional votes on the regular fiscal 2016 spending bills, though there was no evidence Democrats accede to that proposal without a big budget agreement between the two parties.
On android, please post my previous Ron Paul bumper sticker I made.
He hits the nails square on the heads....that’s why I want him for Trump’s V.P. He sits in the Senate and they all have to look up to him...
And he has Trump at his back...nice.....
Trump/Cruz 2016!!! All the way to the White House!!!
You can’t be President and keep your Senate seat can you?
Daniel in Lions Den may be more apt.
Paul is jealous little sniveling nutcase. He is the kinda person you wanted to punch in the nose in grade school.
Ted has chosen to make this really personal and chosen to call people dishonest in leadership and call them names,
Speaking the TRUTH during a time of universal deceit, is a Revolutionary Act.
FU RAND
Correction :
Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday said his presidential campaign is pretty much done for.
As for Mitch McConnell, it's pretty much given he will not be majority leader come January 21st 2017. That will take care of the Rand Paul “suck up to McConnell so I can run for both Senate and President st the same time” problem.
It’s not Ted Cruz’s campaign in trouble Rand Paul, it’s yours and it’s not Ted Cruz that is going to be going out, it’s you Rand Paul...
Snuggle closer to McTurtle and your RINO buddies and that’s what happens....
You thought you had it made and got to high and mighty and forgot your real ‘friends’ are the voters and took to the ‘false friends’ of Washington D.C. and now your gone....
IT is not Cruz’s fault. It is tyranny from the top. You do what McConnell wants or you suffer. It is an evil thing that is happening to Cruz. All the Republicans going along with that tyranny should be ashamed of themselves.
This is funny coming from Rand who has been the big debate squabbler.
Ted’s calling out the greedy little dishonest traitors for who they are and they’re getting their widdle feelers hurt, eh?
Rand is one of Mitch’s boys.....wuss through and through
Buh Bye you little turd
Rand Paul is part of the Borg.
Yes, I saw that too. I really could hardly believe it. Didn’t he originally leave his medical practice to be a senator for the very reason of opposing abortions? I guess the unborn are not that important after all.
Ted Cruz is expossing them all. I used to have respect for Paul but he appears to have sold his soul for power.
Nah, hate to see him cry. Just a smack to the back of the head.
Agree, many don’t like Ron but he was ostracized in the house because he wouldn’t go along with the party line. I may not agree with a man like that, but I have to respect a man that willingly gives up power and influence for his principles.
That picture sums it up. Rand Paul just proved he is nothing but a sniveling douchebag.
