Steyn’s analysis is brilliant, and I’m fine with Steyn not being American, because if he was, he would be less intelligent than he is.

And the reason that you did not hear about Ted Cruz, is because Ted Cruz did not stand out. I am not saying he did poorly, but I am saying that he is basically just a face in the crowd. He did not distinguish himself in any significant way. He did not inspire. He did not capture the attention of enough people in this country to be able to win.

I am not saying he can’t, but so far he hasn’t. If a Republican is to win this race, then he is going to have to CATCH FIRE, and I capitalized that, because it’s going to need to be a big damn fire.

At this time, Trump has done exactly that. He is front and center, and people are flat paying attention to him.

Whether or not that endures and whether or not he is actually a conservative remains to be seen, but if any of those other people in that stage intend to take the spotlight off of Trump, they had best come to life quickly.

Opinions and perceptions do and will always differ in the incendiary world of politics. I thought that Senator Ted Cruz clearly soared above the rest of the other nine onstage. Having an unapologetic faith in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is a must with me. To that point, I thought he proclaimed his unwavering Belief in an impressive manner and that was my takeaway. YMMV.

Hard to stand out when you are given about 1/2 the time of the so-called stand out. 40 minutes passed without Cruz getting a question.

Not hating on Trump because he did bring in an audience. However, personally, I’m getting Trump fatigue. We are facing
Serious problems in our country. We are going broke and our president is selling us down the road, along with our allies.
We have debt we cannot manage. We have illegals crawling over the border bringing disease and crime.
And yet.... folks are worried about Megyn Kelly and Trump.
Really!? Frankly, I don’t care about her and what she said.
I care about where our country is going.

Exactamundo. We need a disruptor. So far Trump is the only one to do it. Without a status quo disruptor every other electoral scenario leads to a progressive in the WH. Dem or GOP colors don’t really matter at this point since the Boehner/McConnell/Obama cartel has shown they are happy to advance the progressive agenda.

You are right. People looking at actual election 2016 right now need to know that Cruz is not a viable option for President. I love him. I’m still sending $. But he WILL NOT be the nominee. I think he would make a smart, wise, truly constitution loving conservative President. But he needs a HUGE, sorry, I mean YUGE, boost into that Oval Office. Being Veep would be the best path for him right now.

And how could Cruz "stand out" when he was barely recognized by the moderators?

I am a Cruz supporter and my comments on this have been to this effect: Cruz HAS been standing on all these issues and anyone who has been following him would know that. Trouble is he is condemned by both parties as grandstanding and being a nuisance. Instead of rallying around him, even Rand Paul and some of the others, except Mike Lee, Steve King and Louis Gohmert, have wanted to make him look like the odd guy out. So the Rand Paul people and others have not paid any attention to him. He is one of the finest senators we’ve had in dozens of years. He gets little air time except in a negative way. Too bad people have NOT been following him all along or they’d be on his side, rallying behind him now. Americans are their own worst enemies. They believe the liar before they believe the truth-teller. The negatives get out there and people actually believe that he’s some unhinged rabble-rouser, instead of a principled man who is concerned and doing everything he can to thwart the Enemy. He wasn’t given much a chance to say anything useful the other night. The questions were not intended for us to find out policy beliefs or anything profitable. It was mostly show, to make the other networks think that Fox took on the republicans and made them squirm.
