Walker Gets Tromped By Trump

Donald Trump unloaded on Scott Walker over the weekend while in Iowa:

He went down a list of criticisms that seemed the result of an overnight opposition-research effort. “Wisconsin is doing terribly,’’ he said. “The roads are a disaster because they don’t have any money to rebuild them, and they’re borrowing money like crazy.’’

He cited figures for the state’s budget deficit. “I wrote this stuff all down but I don’t need it because I have a really good memory,” he said.

He also accused Mr. Walker of flip-flopping on the Common Core education standards, having once supported them. “Scott Walker changed when he saw he was getting creamed, so now he’s not in favor,’’ he said.

By the way, for once, everything The Donald said about Walker was true.

What set Trump off was some adolescent name-calling by a Walker ally in a fundraiser email:

A fundraiser for Scott Walker’s presidential campaign called Donald Trump “DumbDumb” in a fundraising invitation and said electing the New York developer would be “a total and complete disaster for the country.”

“As you’ve seen Gov Walker is now well ahead of everyone not named DumbDumb (aka Trump) in the national polls,” wrote Walker fundraiser Gregory Slayton, a New Hampshire venture capitalist who served as consul general to Bermuda during the George W. Bush administration. “He’s also a plain spoken member of the 99% (as opposed to someone pretending to be so)…and that will be a KSF in 2016.”

Walker's campaign, took its sweet time to respond to this kerfuffle, but did not denounce the name calling:

Walker spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said: “Americans are frustrated with the direction of our country and we owe them a positive conversation about how we move forward together. With that in mind, the governor is going to talk about what he is for and not against and would encourage others to do the same.”

Team Walker is probably feeling pretty nervous for good reason. In New Hampshire, Walker is in a distant third place behind Trump and Jeb Bush. In Iowa, where Walker was a shining star, he's seen his remarkable lead dwindle to just two points ahead of Trump, who keeps climbing in the polls despite - or maybe because - of his outrageous ongoing commentary.

While Trump might be nothing more than a flash in the pan, if he can make Walker's campaign crash and burn, that's perfectly all right by me.

Typical Republican hack talk.

Walker's a proven winner...save the "hack" talk for losing candidates.

Hell he’s fighting back those hitting him first

Geez

Even though he’s unknown a good bit ideologically

He’s a fighter

Media and GOPe say populist and demagogue and huckster

He’s beating their asses

Which is like one long political orgasm for those of us been around long enough to know the GOP today is indistinguishable from mid 70s Democrats

And the establishment RINO brass stand for some beltway shit Diane Rehm does or Paul Gigot or Karl Rove or Britt Hume

They stand for themselves and their careers

Trump doesn’t need any of that crap

He’s already got rich covered

Gorgeous wife(s) covered and they won’t bash him

And great kids who adore him

He’s doing this cause he’s driven not for reward

I’m a Cruz supporter, actually.

I am sorry. Walker should be our President. He is the only one that has results. He just signed an abortion ban after 20 weeks....that is incredible really. Your candidate has gotten what bills passed? A post office name and he is really really trying to get a street name passed. He is quite a leader...lol. I still luv ya though....we will DEFINITELY disagree on this which is weird since we don’t disagree on much.

Scott Walker’s wife: “Our sons were disappointed by his gay marriage remarks.”

Walker says, she doesn’t agree with her husband all the time, “But most of the time things work out a lot better than I think they will.”

Gay marriage in particular is an issue where the family has clear differences.

The Democrats have an ace in the hole. Hussein can citizenize as many millions of new voters as he thinks necessary to do the job. He has been installing the illegals and the "refugees" in strategic voting locations around the country. The courts can't even stop him giving out green cards and "upgrading" their status to legal. He is doing it right along defying that court's injunction. The courts cannot stop him from having swearing in ceremonies for 50,000 at a time in football stadia around the country. Clinton set the precedent for that. He doesn't need to do it until August or September before the elections. Perhaps the USSC renders an emergency decision that they can't vote (this Court?) and he just ignores the Court. The JD will force the states to accept all the new voters.
And Presto! the Total Democrat State is Here!

I would hope that the Republican Leadership (HA!) is taking that into account and moving behind the scenes to counter it.

Most Americans THINK Moochelle is a babe

You spend too much time reading things like Vogue and watching crap TV like TMZ, Extra etc., I don't believe MOST people do. What gets reported in poll isn't what people think. Do you actually know people that would admit to believing that or that do believe that? You need to widen your circle.

Yes, he's done well legislatively, especially with the unions and turncoat RINOs constantly thwarting him. He is a hero for that, to be sure. My concern is that he (and Cruz) are not particularly electable, and with Walker that his liberal wife and family is a potential problem. I also am not pleased with Walker telling the base one thing (a new thing, for him) on amnesty...and then telling another to the RINO donor class.

Hitting nerves everywhere. I like Walker and most of what he's done and consider the debt issue to be a relatively short term thing if his policies stay in effect. The Obama economy makes it tough to get anything off the ground.

GO CRUZ!!!

I’m glad you’re a Cruz supporter, and I do think Trump is making some points that needed to be said. But the idea of The Donald as a serious candidate is laughable.

I knew I was going to get a lot of flak when I posted anything unfavorable about Trump, but all this hero-worship of a clown with a record like he has is so grating that I had to say something.

I disagree with you about Trump, but I was more tongue in cheek referring to your screen name. You do understand the reference, right?

Yes, I just didn’t want to look up the proper spelling of Ozymandias when I was thinking of a screen name. I like what Trump is saying, and the effect it’s having on the RINO establishment, but I wouldn’t trust him for a minute.
