Never mind the however many other Republican candidates in pack: former New York Gov. George Pataki wants to go mano a mano with Donald Trump on immigration.
Last week, Pataki called on fellow Republican presidential candidates to condemn Donald Trumps comments about Mexican immigrants during his campaign announcement.
Trumps quote: When Mexico sends its people, theyre not sending their best. Theyre not sending you. Theyre not sending you. Theyre sending people that have lots of problems, and theyre bringing those problems with us. Theyre bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
Since the mid-June comments, Macys, Univision and NBC have dropped relationships with Trump.
In a letter addressed to the rest of the Republican flock and ccd to Trump Pataki wrote that news coverage over the language used by Donald Trump to describe Mexicans has left me and a lot of other sensible people wondering what century we are living in.
As Donald Trump doubles down, Im asking you to join me in standing up, he said. Stand up for our party, for the ideals that made America great, and stand for the basic decency and integrity entitled to every American, no matter their heritage or nationality.
Trump lashed out on Twitter, saying Pataki was a terrible governor of NY, one of the worst wouldve been swamped if he ran again! and couldnt be elected dog catcher if he ran againso he didnt!
Today, at a roundtable with reporters in New Hampshire, Pataki challenged Trump to a one-on-one debate.
Donald Trump has a lot to say about the problems with illegal immigrants, but aside from name-calling Mexicans and hurling insults at me and some of our other opponents the American people have yet to hear anything resembling a real plan, said Pataki.
I say, lets go mano a mano on immigration policy. Lets get past the name calling and have a real substantive discussion, he added.
Patakis campaign said the governors plan will provide a process to gain legal status for only those who have obeyed the law, paid taxes, not been dependent upon government services and have been here for a number of years. Illegal immigrants would also have to perform at least 200 hours of community service as restitution for breaking the law initially.
Pataki capped off his challenge with a tweet en Español to The Donald: ¿Oye @realdonaldtrump, porque no paremos los insultos y vayamos mano a mano en la póliza de imigratión?
El Jebbe, Willard, Jorge Paturkey, Roofio... another candidate for Presidente of Mejico. Sorry, but we need candidates concerned for America and its citizens, not for foreign nationals illegally occupying our soil.
Pataki needs to get to about the 3% support level to be invited into the debates.
So far he’s at 0.0000000000000000000000000000329%, so he does have a job ahead of himself.
Pataki supporters anticipate the dust-up with Trump.
Okay, I’ll bite. Trump would be one of the mano’s. Who would be the other? Or will actually this just be a mano a chica debate?
Pataki must have meant illegal aliens.
George Pataki was a creation of one Alfonse D’Amato. Whatever happened to D’Amato? Not much improvement over Javits as it turned out
Wow. How utterly disgusting and beneath his dignity. The word "Quisling" comes to mind.
He’s Pawlenty without the gravitas.
Yeah, he’s a Republican in the same way that I’m a centerfold model.
LOL!
Pataki needs a debate alright. Someone needs to question his reason for even being in politics. Yawn.
Trump is soaking up all the attention, that is why Pataki wants to be seen with him. That is the only way he can get attention for himself.
“Is this mic even on? Hello, hello..”
LOL! Pataki reminds me of an ant wearing a potato chip on his head, and thinks he’s a cowboy.
Who is he?
Pataki is just trying to hitch his wagon to Trumps rising star. Yawn.
Giggles, all around! Love ya, Vet!
ROTFLOLOL.
I shall think of your description the very next time I see him!
Does he always sweat profusely?
Back at ya.
First, Pataki has to get his poll numbers up from .05% to
qualify for a debate.
I don’t see him getting anywhere close.
