My point is simple. United States has never occupied any foreign land as rulers after winning a war. The British on the contrary were the rulers of their colonies.
That is a huge difference. If you do not understand that, there is no use for further discussion.
Since I grew up in a British colony, I was taught British history, not American history. And I had to obey whatever laws the British rulers established.
But everyone knows United States is the only country who fought a civil war and freed subjugated people. One does not need to go to school to know that.

Other than, say, Hawaii. Puerto Rico. The Philippines. Guam. The Canal Zone. And all the territory conquered from Mexico.

“Eveybody knows” indicates a pop version of history. The British announced two emancipation proclamations during the American War of Independence. Had they defeated our rebellion the slaves could have been freed 80 years earlier than they were. The slaves the British freed were taken to Canada.
Lincoln’s war goal was to preserve the Union. He publicly said that if he could preserve the Union by keeping slavery he would do it. If he could preserve the Union by emancipating slaves then he would do that. Emancipating slaves began as a wartime measure to injure the Confederacy and only afterwards was said to be a justification for the slaughter. Lincoln emancipated no slaves in the loyal states, a strange measure if his goal was to end slavery. You might want to read Frederick Douglass’ memorial speech on the 10th anniversary of Lincoln’s death.
