Free Republic STRAW POLL.
Free Republic | June 18, 2015 | 2ndDivisionVet

Posted on 06/18/2015 6:07:51 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

Do you spew continued talking points that have been discredited on here time and again?

You and the other “concerned” posters keep saying it gives Obama unlimited trade power. That is BS and you know it...no president would have unlimited power. If he did, he wouldn’t need a majority of Congress to approve the legislation.

Ok, so I’ll ask you like I asked others...

If you have read the arguments for TPA, and you have read the Constitution, what makes you think you are right? Or, could it be, that a Harvard Educated, top of his class Constitutional attorney who was the Solicitor General of Texas (with no history of being unconstitutional) is doing something that violates the Constitution? I am sorry, but first, it isn’t Unconstitutional (again, explained if you actually read TPA supporter posts) and B, not to insult you, but I trust Ted to know the Constitution and the details of the bill better than you.

Don’t post stuff like this...

Those “Constitutional scholars”, aka, agenda driven trolls, will say you are wrong and they are right.

Yeah, the president’s power is hardly unlimited. The Congress starts off by giving him a list of the things he’s supposed to be negotiating for. Then he goes off and does the negotiating.

Along the way he’s required to report back to congress about the state of the negotiations. It’s in this phase that the president and the congress do their own negotiations. The congress has final authority to say NO and it’s here that they let him know what they find acceptable in what he’s negotiated and what will trigger a NO vote. He then has to go back and renegotiate the items that will trigger the NO or risk having his agreement voted down.

Once the president has negotiated an agreement that the congress finds acceptable it goes to the congress for a vote. No amendments can be added and the threshold for passage is a simple majority. The idea is that congress has already agreed to what’s been negotiated and shouldn’t have an easy opportunity to do an about face or grand stand before the public by shooting it down or bog the agreement down with a bunch of previously un-negotiated and un-agreed-to caveats.

I’m no expert on the subject but from what I’ve read the process is very reasonable and doesn’t even come close to giving the president unlimited power.

Sine TPA specifically lowers the threshold for passage of TPP, anyone who voted for TPA is effectively voting for TPP. So if Ted Cruz votes against TPP and it passes anyway, he is a hypocrite.

I don’t trust hypocrites.

He had unlimited power to negotiate the deal and Congress has very little power to stop the deal once it is finished.

That is why the push these 'fast track deals' so Congress doesn't have anything to say.

So, those aren't talking points, they are facts.

Once a deal is negotiated, it NEVER gets voted down.

Also, the only thing you need to know is that Obama wants this authority.

That should be enough for any real conservative to oppose giving it to him.

Who you voting for on this poll thread? The question was if the election was today....who would you vote for. So saying it’s too early shows you’re not being very mindful of what the thread is about. Might try and pay attention....????

Concern trolls need not pay attention to the true subject of the thread.

They have a job they were sent to do.

You seem unhealthily preoccupied with Ted Cruz and homosexuality.

Do we need to worry about you?
