Free Republic STRAW POLL.
Free Republic | June 18, 2015 | 2ndDivisionVet

Posted on 06/18/2015 6:07:51 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

And yes, the others would have too if they were involved with the voting. That is a specious argument

Not necessarily. A vote is a solemn act that goes a long way further than a position. Ted Cruz took an oath as Senator to preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. With each vote he makes he has to weigh that oath.

Frankly giving more power to Obama to negotiate trade deals cannot be viewed as anything other than shirking his duty to the Constitution. Further by redefining the Treaty Clause to exclude "trade agreement" even when they were clearly understood to be the same thing by the founders, he has voted to change the constitution without amendment.

He can rely on some obscure Supreme Court Case from 125 year ago to justify his position, but he clearly can't point to a single founder who would have taken that position in 1789.

The vote is a much more significant event than simply saying you support some measure. You don't violate your oath by taking a wrongheaded position. But you do violate your oath when you vote to undermine the Constitution and to provide additional power to a despot who has no regard whatsoever for the well being of the United States or the Constitution.

Ted Cruz has two strikes on him right now. His support for a 500% increase in H1B Visas (how many freepers are on board with that one?) and now his vote to bypass the Treaty Clause and provide Obama with the power to ram a treaty through the Congress on a simple majority vote.

Will he get to strike 3? I don't know, but he apparently isn't too concerned about it. People like you have his back when you should be kicking him in the shins.

I’ve not seen any indication you care for my opinion.

So far, I ‘m still allowed to have one on FR.

Even if I factored out Jeff Sessions (which I wouldn’t)
.....He’s not the only one whose opinion I value and respect.

I believe American citizens were given a bucket of worms today and told to deal with it.
I don’t like worms.....especially from Republicans
I’ve been a Republican since I could vote (& that was many moons ago)
Today......(save for 50 brave souls & my congressman being one of them)
......Republicans made me ashamed I had wasted all these years on them.
.....
I am truly sad to include Ted Cruz in that group.

I wouldn’t vote at all if the election were held today, and probably won’t vote in Nov 2016 in any case.

‘B-but that’s just a vote for democrat!’ you say? OK. Since 1984, has a president been elected who was conservative? One that didn’t expand the scope and breadth of government dramatically? If there has been one, it’s escaped my notice.

I’ll tell you why you won’t see a conservative President in the future: the electorate is too invested in the welfare state to elect a conservative candidate who would actually cut programs of substance. In addition, caesar’s electoral process as run by the uniparty is too steeped in corruption to allow an actual conservative onto the ballot. (The only exception I see being someone who could self fund their own campaign and they would still face a welfare state electorate.)

So while presidential politics is entertaining to watch and comment on, in the end what you or I think about it doesn’t matter worth a hill of beans. See tagline.

This site is very conservative and not at all reflective of more general sentiments. Cruz is running 7th in polls and dropping.

Oooh! Oooh! But those polls are _______ (biased, rigged, untrue, etc.)!

((((Shrugs))))

Is there a reason your screen name is RKBA DEMOCRAT?

I find it interesting that it is your handle and you criticize a Conservative.

And no, he isn’t dropping. Tell me, what were the internals, of say, the MSNBC poll? Is it legit? Or, do Conservative polls and Straw polls indicate where he is because WE vote?

So, tell me, When Obama is out of office, will you complain when a Republican President has this power?

Tell me how TPA is new...and why Cruz is to blame. And, you say voting is a solemn ACT...fine, then I guess the only people you can vote for are those in Congress. I mean, words mean nothing, right?

Cruz has Consistently been a defender of the Constitution and anyone with more than a kindergarten IQ would know this...your problem, you have an agenda.

Also, tell me other than 2 companies, how an increase in H1B visas have been exploited? He said it benefits TX...he is right. He represents TX.

So, he has no strikes against him. I don’t consider either vote bad. But, since you do, who do you support?

When I read comments like yours ..... a pro Cruz person....

....it simply redoubles my resolve to distrust any posts favoring him....

And pal, I am no troll......!

And I DID support him......I was a Cruz cheerleader.

You and other Cruz team members are turning off FReepers by the droves.
Name calling, ridiculing, insinuations just doesn ‘t cut it.
Just sayin

Lame excuses are like old car tires, that ain’t good for nothing.

I guess you were not around a few days ago watching all the name calling of the trolls of those supporting Ted Cruz, and those trolls bashing Ted Cruz, unless you were part of the Cabal.

Yes, it got surreal here, and it was intense.

Ted Cruz supporters ain’t got nothing on those who were hear a few days ago and this past week trowing all kinds of insults and name calling towards Ted Cruz and his supporters.

If anyone should be ashamed of themselves it should be them.

So, tell me, When Obama is out of office, will you complain when a Republican President has this power?

Since I consider TPA to be an unconstitutional violation of the Treaty Clause, I would be opposed to it no matter who the president is. This power should not rest in the hands of one man and a simple majority of Congress.

Tell me how TPA is new...and why Cruz is to blame.

Its nothing new. Doing an end run around the Constitution has been SOP since it was originally ratified. How has that worked out lately?

Cruz is to blame because he voted for it. He will likely vote for it the second time around. How can he then be considered not to be blamed for it.

So, he has no strikes against him. I don’t consider either vote bad. But, since you do, who do you support?

I have no candidate right now. Frankly I would like to see Sarah Palin jump in. She's right on both these issues.

Ahh the tiresome “but you use DEMOCRAT in your site handle!!”Canard. I’ve explained it a couple of times this week already. I’m not going to type it out again this week.

As for criticizing a conservative, do you mean TPA Ted Cruz? He’s a great “conservative” alright. Him and Boehner and Ryan are just 3 peas in a pod. Sorry. My definition of “conservative” doesn’t include handing dear leader more power.

As for dropping, he’s gone from 6th to 7th. he could drop to 15th and the meme would still be that the polls are rigged, unfair, flawed, etc.
