Battered Conservative Syndrome

As long as the conservatives keep hanging on, the GOP elites get to retain their power and salaries, because they know most of the conservatives will vote for their guys at both the state and national levels.

Conservatives keep saying they will try to reform the party from within. That didn't work with Goldwater. That didn't work with Reagan. In fact, with Reagan being coerced into selecting GHW Bush, the party has moved even more leftward since 1988.

IF {big IF} the conservatives ever wake up, they will realize that the GOP elites will never relinquish power to them.

If conservatives stay it is more of the same.

1. Nominate Cruz.

2. Unlike Reagan, he will select his own choice as VP -- no compromise (as with GHWB).

3. Win the election, beating Hillary (or whoever) like a rented mule.

4. Clean house at the RNC -- the GOPe is weaker than it appears and will fold like a cheap suit (a la the Soviets).

> 5. Rebuild the party around the state committees in red states who support conservatism, dump the state committees in blue states, re-staff and re-build.

6. I.e. do for the party what must be done for the country. Abandon Rove et al in the desert, somewhere west of Terlingua.
