Republican Party chiefs are concerned that the sprawling size of the 2016 GOP field could compromise its chances to win the presidency.
"We're in a danger zone," Doug Gross, a top Republican establishment figure in Iowa, told The Washington Post. "When the party poobahs put this process together, they thought they could telescope this to get us a nominee who could appeal to a broad cross-section of people.
"What we've got instead is a confederation of a lot of candidates who aren't standing out and in order to stand out, you need to scream the loudest."
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was seen as the front-runner at the beginning of the year, but his recent stumbles on the question of the Iraq War has put his standing in question.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker also enjoyed a surge early in the year, ranking at the top of a number of polls, but his star has faded somewhat as other candidates have jumped into the race.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz enjoyed a bounce after his announcement in March, as did Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in April. And Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has consistently performed among the top contenders in the polls.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the GOPe has been working on that platform...
No it isn’t. It will be perfectly fine so long as everyone just calms down and enjoys it a little bit. We should give each and every one of them a thorough going over and testing out through the primary. That’s the point of a primary. That way we can end up with the very best one.
I disagree. It would seem more candidates the better. We really don’t know very much about any of them but we do know a lot about Hitlery Clinton, she will be a formidable person to beat as she has all the feminist’s votes as well as many who are not. We need a candidate who can stand up to her and can be persuasive with women voters as well as lateno and black of both genders. Only a good debate with all the candidates will bring that person out.
They actually ARE going to narrow the field by the amount of money the candidate has raised, at least as far as participation in the debates.
Yep, when the East coast and MSM selects our candidate you can bet we are hosed again.
Yeah. I’ve noticed. That’s why I said the “core platform.” In other words, the reference to the principles of the Declaration of Independence, not to the things after that which contradict those principles.
Too many RINOs is my concern.
Eliminate all those who’ve already indicated they are unwilling to uphold the rule of law.
That leaves Cruz and Walker.
Go Cruz!
No wonder this article is full of beans- it originated from Newsmax....which gave oodles of money to Hillary!
