Another idea offered by former Missouri GOP chairman Ed Martin is fresh to the quadrennial confab of conservatives. He wants to launch a concerted effort to persuade every GOP candidate to stay into the race until the end. That would have to be studied state-by-state, but continuing to split the conservative vote until the end sounds like a losing proposition. Most candidates would win a few votes away from the strongest conservatives, but win no delegates.

Lesser evil rather than principled voting. THAT was why it happened. I would point out that these guys meet in secret because why? Lesser evils cannot be trusted. And they meet in secret to figure out how to OVERCOME lesser evil voting.

All those pleas for $ from the GOP that arrive in my maibox get returned with “I support Conservative candidates of my choosing” in big letters to them.

Over forty conservative organizations attending and they have only two ideas: get behind one candidate or encourage all candidates to stay in until Cleveland.
Wowza.
They should have at least forty ideas.
And why is Grover Norquist being interviewed about things going on in the conservative world?
I thought he was in bed with the Chamber of Communists?

The fact the conservatives must plot in secret to hijack the Republican Party says more about the Republican Party than it does about the conservatives. You've got that right!!

The biggest problem that needs to be addressed is early voting.
Freepers know all 16 potential candidates inside and out, but the LIVs who will be deciding who our next president will be haven't a clue.
If it is legal, then all of the non-GOPe candidates should pool their funds together and target collectively improving their name recognition in the early states.
Group appearances, group flyers, group commericals, etc.
They should all follow Reagan's 11th commandment and agree not to speak ill of GOP candidates, limiting their bile toward Hillary and GOPe candidates like Bush.

Not Reagan: he gave us Sandra Day O’Connor and Anthony Kennedy.

I understand your concern. My ideal ticket would scare the horses and the children, but I am willing to have a less than ideal VP if it would get our guy in the number one slot. VP’s aren’t automatically advanced to the next level. Ask President Mondale, or President Quayle, or President Gore, or President Cheney, or soon to be President Biden.

I am 100% with you. Cruz is longtime friends with Ron.
Let’s win the election first.

I think the terminology of “secret” and “hijack” came from the pouting media. Even the Washington Times is not immune to the Washington way of things and obviously they were not invited.
Besides, a huge fighting brawl among conservatives is what the Beltway media LIVES for, whether conservative or liberal media. They try to marginalize us so that all things stay the same.

Bush? Never.
Christy? Fat chance.
Huckabee? Hell no.
Rubio? Nunca.
Walker? If only to prevent Queen Hillary.
The only real conservative choice is Ted Cruz. He is also not Republican establishment.

I think a better approach would be for conservative groups to start approaching other independent, non-GOP/DNC groups to see if some kind of coalition can be cobbled together that could ultimately replace the GOPe. If you have to plot like this just to be heard in your own party, it is pretty much a waste of time. The GOPe wants the votes of conservatives, then they want them to shut up and go away for two years. That isn't a recipe for turning this country around, though, and even if the GOP presidential candidate was a conservative, it seems likely that a fair number of GOPe types would vote Democrat out of spite.

Hi, gorgeous. How are you doing?
Isn’t this thread of 2D’s the best news! I’m thankful when I see some old patriots like Phyliss Schlafly in on the this action.
If it falls flat on its face, I’m thrilled to throw in with those trying to change the course of history and fighting back against the corruption we’ve been forced to support for decades.
