Bush, Walker in GOP ‘16 top tier, says new Sabato ranking

Jeb Bush and Scott Walker are alone in the top tier of potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates in the latest Sabato Crystal Ball/University of Virginia Center for Politics rankings.

Bush, the former Florida governor, appears to the overwhelming Republican establishment favorite now that 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney is not running. Walker, the governor of Wisconsin, did well at the January 24 Iowa Freedom Summit and is seen as having appeal to both mainstream and more conservative Republicans.

Bush’s advantages include a built-in network of donors and supporters he inherits from his father and brother. But, the center noted, “Bush fatigue is real.”

Walker, it found, “is getting serious attention and early momentum.” But he “needs to raise mountains of $” and “early peaking will open him up to attacks from others.”(continued)

I guess we’ll wait and see. If Walker is still in the mix a year from now, he will have earned it. I am a Cruz guy, but I’ll certainly have my eye on Walker as well as a vote against Jeb if necessary (I am not likely to have much of a choice in VA).

I have my heart in both places. I lived in Wisconsin last year, and worked there for three, so I saw what Walker did , and what he was up against. He's a pro. So is Cruz.

When the race comes here to Georgia, I'll vote for whomever will be the Establishment candidate at the time.

I just wonder where Cruz ended up on this poll....I mean the last conservative poll at least had him 3 percent. This story doesn’t even have him listed. I can’t imagine the 3 percent aren’t still supporting him. How weird.

Yeah, boo-hoo. I should be getting behind your candidate 11 months before the first primary & caucus. Um, no, I don’t think so.

I honestly don’t care one way or the other. I asked a simple question and you laughed me off.....doesn’t speak well of your candidate.

If you judge Senator Ted Cruz by some random guy on the Internet who supports him, rather than his actions, words and deeds, you’re a knucklehead.

I feel them same way about you with Governor Walker......actions especially are impressive. I don’t want a words guy this time and certainly not a one term Senator....we went your way with Obama last round.

If that’s all Ted Cruz had on his resume, you might have a point. Luckily, it isn’t.

I said he would make a great Supreme Court Justice and I actually hope he gets there someday. He would be one of the best in history as a matter of fact.
