A still from an ad by Tom Cotton, a Republican challenging Senator Mark Pryor in Arkansas.
One ad in the Kansas race for Senate depicts shadowy men climbing a barbed-wire fence as a narrator warns that illegal immigration is threatening our communities and taking jobs away from Kansans who need them.
Scott Brown, the former Massachusetts senator running for Senate in New Hampshire, has run three border security ads, and cautioned that a porous border poses an Ebola threat.
And in Texas, a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor produced an ad showing a caravan of Middle Easterners waving flags and brandishing high-caliber weapons, while claiming that ISIS terrorists threaten to cross our border and kill Americans.
The ads come less than two years after the Republican National Committee, following Mitt Romneys loss, issued a report vowing to treat immigration issues differently, offering Hispanic voters a more welcoming, inclusive message and positive solutions on immigration.
But the party has not unified behind that message. Several Republican candidates are now attacking their opponents for supporting a sweeping 2013 immigration bill that passed the Senate with bipartisan support and was cowritten by several prominent Republicans, including Senators John McCain of Arizona, the failed 2008 presidential candidate, and Marco Rubio of Florida, a possible future presidential candidate.....

I think “Barf alert” is called for here.....
Noah, you ignorant slut. Open borders threatens our country in every imaginable way.
It’s the Boston Globe.
Ignore it.
.
For $hits and giggles, I kept a copy of the Boston Glop from just before the November 1994 elections with its predictable pap that the GOP would go nowhere. Wrong then, wrong now, always wrong.
Side to side slums which make our slums look like comfy housing adjacent to gated highrises and gun toting security guards patrolling pricey shops are the norm.
Within ten years, if this unfettered illegal immigration continues, this is our future. However, I don't think the middle class and our “poor” have the financial resources to hide behind gates and security. We will be fighting against the influx from the south for crumbs.
What the PTB plan is going to backfire. You can't assimilate everyone, especially when everyone does not want to assimilate. Or maybe that's their plan - take down the country and the system.
I think this Republican consultant is straight, for once, although I could be wrong. Just about every other one is gay.
Anyway, he seems to miss out on the FACT that (legal) Hispanics have no great love for OPEN BORDERS either. They would like Amnesty for those that are here, but they do not like Open Borders...they know what’s down there, and they want it to stay down there. Border security HAS NOT hurt Republicans, at least here in Texas. Amnesty is a low-burner issue for Hispanics, and they can live without it if they have to. Deportations are another issue, and they won’t like it if we start serious deporting...but that’s why we have two parties.
In politics, it’s generally a good idea to worry about an election coming up in 2 weeks, rather than one coming up in 2 years. We’ll deal with 2016 when we have to. in 2008 we ran the most PRO-AMNESTY person to ever be on a Republican ballot and he got his butt whipped by a guy barely out of day care - the Hispanics did not lift a finger for McCain. So sorry, if these consultants (most of them gay, by the way...although maybe not this one) insist that we ALIENATE our base to try to pull over a few Hispanics, then NO THANKS. I’d rather win.
By the way, this CLOWN was a strategist for McCain. Didn’t seem to Republicans much good with his advisement.
Good grief .. this is THE BOSTON GLOBE .. just what is the public expecting them to say.
When are people going to figure out who the LEFTIST papers are .. and not to read them and not to make a big issue out of them. They are rooting for their candidates - DEMOCRATS.
My wife is a fourth or fifth generation Mexican-American. Her entire family are AGAINST amnesty! They are FOR closing the borders! And, they are very much interested in getting America to STOP being a multicultural mass, and to once again become a MELTING POT!
These analysts seem to only care about what the ILLEGAL Hispanics and their families want. They completely forget about the LEGAL Hispanics and multiple-generation, Hispanic-Americans who worked hard to escape the hell holes of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean areas!
When you talk to Texas Hispanics, you are talking to some whose ancestors fought with the Texians to free themselves from the tyranny of Santa Anna! You are talking about the ancestors of Mexican-born Hispanics who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence, who signed the Texas Constitution, and who were the Mayors, Vice-Presidents, and Cabinet members of the Republic of Texas! These people are Americans, and MOST of them do not buy into the race/ethics based decision making like the Democrats want, and the GOP fears.
We need to talk to these people like the Americans they are and explain how our inattention to the borders can and will lead to a CONTINUED diminishment for their children and grand-children. Every time politicians allow the watering down of our worker pool, they are purposefully keeping wages low and they are eliminating job opportunities for our own children!
No matter what race/ethnicity you are, that message hits HOME!
Then again, they “may” not. Idiots.
I sure don’t see many pro illegal immigration ads. Obama should repeat his promise to grant amnesty before Thanksgiving. Democrats should embrace the suck.
