Romney was unelectable. Liberal republicans are unelectable as president. History shows that clearly.
Supporting liberal republican candidates for the presidency just makes the GOP run more liberal candidates.
It's time for all liberal republicans to be politically destroyed, and for them to never win again, in the primary or the general, until running as a liberal republican is seen as a kiss of death for a political career.

Pipe dream. The Republican Party wants conservatives at the back of the bus where they belong.
Republicans aren’t going to win the Senate and they’ll lose House seats.
/johnny
They wouldn’t have to lose if they only would get conservative.
They wouldn’t have to lose if they only would look to the “Real Leader of the World”. I think they need to revisit the following:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Romney was unelectable.
... Romney is electable now, very much so and perhaps the only person along with Scott Walker who could handily beat Hillary.
Romney is a Rino, but both Bushes were kinda Rino’ish. I didn’t want Romney in 2012 as like you I thought him unelectable. But I believed GWB honesty and sincerity and still do.
For 2016 I’m looking for a Romney/Walker ticket. Romney automaticaly gets the ‘oh okay, we should have voted for you last time’ vote. Which is looking quite substantial.
In 1970, one in 21 in this country was foreign born; today it is one in 8, the highest in 90 years, and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. In 1970 we had 9.7 million foreign born and today it is close to 45 million.
By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities, as defined by the USG. By 2043 we will be a majority minority country. Immigrants and minorities vote more than two to one Democrat.
In 2012 Romney won the white vote 59% to 39%. He won the white women's vote 56% to 42%. He won the white vote across all age groups. Obama won the black vote with 95%, Asians 73%, and Hispanics 71%. We have entered the era of tribal politics where issues are no longer as important as political affiliation. The GOP is on a failed course of trying to play identity politics. They would be better served going after a bigger share of the white blue collar vote. Unfortunately, the GOPe would rather side with corporate interests than American workers.
All liberal republicans are unelectable for the presidency.
History has PROVEN that except to the most obstinate.
There aren't any RINOS, there are only liberal republicans. Romney doesn't even match his own party platform on abortion, amnesty, gun-control, socialized medicine, or big government.
That's liberal, any way you cut it, unless you like lying to yourself with the term RINO, as a way to say liberal, but republican.

Self-delusion won't win races. Cold, hard facts will.
/johnny
History has proven that.

The Republican Party is like a drunkard pastor. It’s capable of saying all the right things but has no intentions of doing the right thing. It, like the pastor, needs to make a fundamental change and reacquaint itself with basic truths. I’m not hopeful.
It's time for some tough love.
The liberal bastards just can't be allowed to win, either in the primary or the general election.

The 2016 Electorate will be unlike a typical election. We’re coming off a very unpopular very poor administrator, the electorate will be looking for ability and stability. That is unless the election priority get’s redefined to something else by one of the parties .... unlikely as hard as the dems may try. I.E the GOP has to screw up.
All this is easier to swallow for me if we could only get rid of Carl Rove. But realistically, I don’t see another viable candidate other than perhaps Perry who won’t be able to stand in the halo of Romney. Christy, well he’s racing on bald tires and will crash spectacularly at some point. Cruz, just not ready to move up from the Senate. A Senator chosen to run for President in 2016 is doomed to failure. Obama has left the nation sore and angry, and that’s how they’re going to vote in 2016.
You would call Nixon and Bush I and II conservative?
I'm with you on the desperate need for a conservative candidate both for our party and the country.
But it seems that Reagan might be considered the first (and only) conservative since Hoover.
And you had to slam Cruz. Bad idea.
You are now on record supporting a liberal republican, and slamming probably the only conservative that can win.
You can take your conventional wisdom, fold it until it's all corners, and disappear it where sunshine don't reach.
/johnny
Recent history indicates liberal republicans can't win the presidency. It will go to the dem, instead.
/johnny
Yes, the past two elections certainly argue for an inspiring conservative...if there are any out there.
Nor will conservatives in the future. Demography is destiny. Do you think a conservative can win in CA or NY or MA or MD?
