Well that would be fantastic if he would. I don’t see it but that would be great.

when do they count the absentee ballots...it could be enough to put McDaniel over the top..and is there now an automatic recount??

Like that’s gonna happen.

There are still 4 whole precincts in the most populous county in the state that haven’t been counted yet.

I’m calling on him to drop out as well. Don’t make us waste more money, Thad. You’re done. Retire.

Tell Cochran publically that he needs to spend more time with his family.

Agreed. The Republican nominee should be virtually guaranteed election in MS. This makes the state one of the good ones for Tea Party challenges of GOPe-ers. Cochranes issues over the last week actually erode confidence in his ability to both win and serve effectively for another 6 years.

And if he doesn’t retire I’d think McDaniels could overwhelm Cocharan with energy, intelligence and appeal. Force the issue that Cocahran’s too old and too feeble, by comparison. Make it clear that Cocharan will never have the energy to keep that seat from the dems, but McDaniels will.

Come on, Cochran. You've got nothing left. If you won't do it for the good of the country or of your state, do it for yourself. Contemplate, if you will, how utterly embarrassing and humiliating it will be for you after the reviews of your debate with McDaniel come in. You will have to debate. You know that, don't you? Save youself from that.
To: grania
Its the prospect of a media demanded debate that should scare Cochran into surrender. He hasn’t been in a debate since before the invention of sliced bread.

For these old coots that have been on the Hill for 30+ years, the transition from overlord back to lowly citizen is a fate worse than death. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t cling to his life of perks and privilege until the very bitter end.

I’d all for McDaniel, but why would Cochran quit when the election is a dead heat and the most likely outcome right now is a runoff? Sort of an insulting request, IMO.

The fact that Cochran really didn't even RUN in this race is proof that he can't handle the rigors of campaigning. Of course the fact that he didn't really show his face in the state, and still got over 48% of the votes is a SAD state of affairs in MS (and the United States as a whole)!
However, the writing is on the wall! Thad is DONE! The only thing he can do at this point, is help the Democrats by creating problems for McDaniels who, I would almost be willing to bet my next paycheck, is going to win the runoff with EASE! Of course, that may very well be what the GOPe wants as a last ditch effort to stave off the Tea Party changes which are coming to the GOP (whether they like it or not)!

But that alone isn't a good enough reson for re-election. I hope McDaniel pulls it out in the runoff.

Tell Cochran publically that he needs to spend more time with his family. Yes.

Why would Cochran quit? He didn’t even give a speech to his campaign workers last night. He sent out Gregg Harper to speak. Was it already past his bedtime?
He’s 76 for pete’s sake. He said already he wanted to retire but ‘everyone’ talked him into running again. ‘Everyone’ being the Barbour clan.
