Wendy Davis hits back at Bristol Palin

Texas gubernatorial hopeful Wendy Davis brushed off criticism about her life story from Bristol Palin, saying that nothing Palin accused her of was true.

Davis was responding to a blog post from the daughter of former Gov. Sarah Palin, who wrote last week amid questions about the timeline of Davis’s personal biography, slamming her for allegedly leaving her kids behind with her ex-husband after finishing law school.

“Gosh, children are sooo inconvenient, huh? I’m glad my mother didn’t put motherhood on the shelf when she was elected to City Council, then became our mayor, then governor,” Palin wrote, addressing her comments to liberals. “I know you would rather think about Wendy Davis, so let’s get back to her. She’s more your type of woman. She left her kid, husband, made it into a false ‘made-for-tv-movie-type tale’ and then demanded that Texans have the right to kill babies. Wendy lowers her own status by “Barking Back” at the bloggings of a 22 year old private citizen. Yes, it’s Bristol Palin, but she has not been elected to anything. Bristol must’ve really struck a nerve for Wendy to react that way. This only elevates Bristol’s status. Bristol is a little more than a completely private citizen since her TV stint (Dancing with the Stars, Palin's Alaska) and her mom's prominence, and I believe she herself is not afraid of retorts. Certainly, we are not shy aout discussing Meghan McCain.

That said, Wendy Davis is flailing, and she is looking for a bogeyman to demonize. Bristol Palin is kind of a weak target. Davis' M.O. is to paint herself the victim of unfairness. Normally, I'd say, bring it back to the issues. However, in Texas, I think the hypocrisy and major moral failings have to be rammed down her throat, enough to disgust 80% of the electorate in that state, driving down Dem participation in general statewide.

The TRUTH is defining her, and she doesn't like it.
