Barbara Bush reveals close friendship: ‘I love Bill Clinton’

Sarah Palin is known to say that America is governed by a “permanent political class,” and recent comments by former first lady Barbara Bush about how she views former President Bill Clinton lends credence to that point of view.

Before Bush’s recent health issues, she sat down for an interview with C-SPAN, part of a series of profiles on America’s first ladies, Investor’s Business Daily reported.

In a candid conversation, Mrs. Bush reveals the bond of friendship that has formed between former President George H.W. Bush, herself and Clinton, whom she said visits “every summer.”

While noting that they do not agree politically, Mrs. Bush seems to almost excuse some of Clinton’s more questionable behavior by stressing that his father “was not around.”

“I think that he thinks of George a little bit like the father he didn’t have,” she said. “And he’s very loving to him and I really appreciate that.”(continue)

Yes, indeed. But when’s the last time a GOP president had a conservative wife? Pat Nixon. Not one of the others, including the most recent, had her ability to remain wife, not co-president. Sure would be nice (if we don’t get a female president) if the GOP/Conservative wives shared their husbands’ public views. Not holding my breath.

Re the Bushes aware of the latest developments in the supermarket checkout scanner technology?

What amazes me is how so many on FR seem to think every single thing in the world is about politics. We’re all people, after all.

You've put your finger on the very reason the GOP at large keeps getting its clock cleaned - to the left every damn thing is political. Everything.

Astute conservatives understand and wish the GOP - the Bush family among them - would pull its head out and realize what they're up against.

The Bushes have been out of work out of office so long, they were surprised to learn on a recent trip to Kroger’s that they are now employed scanning and sacking their own groceries!

Nope! I have wished she would shut up for a long time--specifically since she trashed Palin for not being an elite Ivy Leaguer. I would bet she likes Obama better than Palin because he is Ivy.

The 1%’ers have chosen Jeb over Hillary.

Most likely scenario at this point:

Hillary’s successes in the primaries panics FR-type geriatrics.

No one else cares.

Here comes Jeb to the rescue!!!

The rich expect the peasants will shut up when considering their conservative hero.

Nothing really changes.

/Bet on it.

No. Everything about her reminds me of someone I once knew. One word could describe that person. Pompous.

The Bushes and the Clintons holiday together from their shared neighborhood in the Hamptons.

I remember seeing a photograph of them yakking it up on some yacht just before Clinton’s “reelection.” That image helped enlighten me as to the true nature of the credibility of our “elections.”

The 1%’ers know exactly who the next president will be.

That anyone like yourself still retains faith in the system is charming and a little pathetic.

While I loathe the Bushes,

I have to point out that bit with Daddy Bush and the scanner never happened.

He was joking with the checkout clerk when something he said was taken out of context, and associated with a bit of tape recorded many seconds earlier.

Believe ye in the media and suffer ignorance...!

3 (long) years and the Obamas will join this exclusive club of opportunists and cynics, winking to one another about how they fooled ya!

Not surprising at all, the media create these “legends”.

Am I the only one who wishes Barbara Bush would shut up?

I wish all the Bushes would shut the F up.

I’ve long since learned that tv news is one step away from SYFY Channel/Asylum movies.

Which I love, by the way.

Just saw “Wyvern.” A terrific flick.

Very well said ‘9. It is almost impossible for some to get their heads around the world the power elites, (of either party), exist and travel in. The Bushs, Clintons and the Obamas all answer to the same New World Order master. One hands off the NWO’s long planned one world government agenda relay ‘baton’ to the next. Obama is now running his ‘leg’. (He is not stupid or foolish like some feel. He is performing his role to perfection.) When all of the ‘pieces’ are in place the ‘race’ will be deemed over. The Globalist ‘Powers That Be’ will then throw their final switch of their long planned and engineered collapse of the dollar. Following that in just a matter of a few short days, as water and food run out, will be a complete very violent societal meltdown. Martial Law will be declared of course and whomever is sitting as the US President at the time will stay as the US President. It might be a long time before this ever again an election for President of the United states of America
