Can anybody unite a party thats at war with itself? Thats the question Republicans are asking, and the answer might be former vice-presidential contender Paul Ryan, whose low profile amidst the intra-party squabbling suggests he is deftly positioning himself as Speaker in waiting or the GOPs last best hope for 2016either way a Hobsons choice given the demoralized state of the party.
Ryan wrote the budget that balances in 10 years, and that helped bring Congress to its knees, unable to find the votes to pass any of its traditional priorities, a farm bill or a transportation bill, much less a kinder, gentler budget that could get Democratic votes. With Republicans holding out for deep spending cuts, Ryan decamped to his Wisconsin district, assuring his constituents that he stands ready to help them navigate the challenges of enrolling in Obamacare even as he pledges to continue working to delay implementing the law.
Its the kind of balancing act that the 43-year-old Ryan has gotten good at, acting and sounding like the grownup who seeks compromise while still keeping lines open to the Tea Party wing of his party that opposes any accommodation with Democrats. He knows how to use the words that are magic words for the Right without sounding like some lunatic, says Norman Ornstein with the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank....

And sadly, Ryan is in the process of Rubio-ing himself over immigration. Buh-bye.
Forget Ryan. He’s had his chance.
Ryan can bend over and kiss all he wants but I will never vote for him for anything anytime anywhere.........
If he is the nominee, I guess I won’t be voting for President again.
hardly a ‘darling’. He’s a Boehner puppet.
Run for Governor of your state first.
Ryan is dead to me as a candidate.
Ryan is in for a nasty surprise. He is now despised by patriotic Americans across the country. He is a progressive traitor who is using our Constitution as an oil rag. Bob
Gee, I thought she was dead. Oh, sorry, that’s braindead, not physically dead. My mistake.
Paul Ryan has an albatross named Willard around his neck. People vote according to association.
Ryan is an example of someone who has allowed the rubbing of shoulders in Washington to turn him into a monster. A young Paul Ryan would have been horrified to meet his present-day countenance. Bob
Well I’m no longer a Republican so there.
When it comes to immigration, I don’t think Ryan is doing the math.
Clift is nuts. Always been that way.
Eleanor Clift has been certifiably insane since the waning days of the Wilson administration.
Again, a good liberal like Clift wishing the best for the conservative movement. Heartwarming, really.
(Surely I don’t need to add the /sarc tag!)

Nope. Paul Ryan will NEVER get my vote. I have nothing but contempt for him, after his sell-out on amnesty and endorsing homo adoption.
