The battle within the Republican Party over the so-called Gang of Eights 844-page immigration bill has often been contentious, but in recent days it has escalated.
Despite his plea for cooler heads to prevail in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing last, Alex Conant, press secretary for Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, likened the current plight of illegal immigrants to that of slaves in 19th century America.
Conant made his remarks in a Twitter argument with the Washington Examiners Conn Carroll, who accused the Florida Republican of selling lies. Conant replied by asking Carroll for suggestions.
After Carroll suggested scrapping a proposed assimilation bureau, cutting grants to leftist groups and other changes, Conant rebutted those suggestions by saying Americans have not had a cohort of people living permanently in US without full rights of citizenship since slavery.(continued)

Yup.
Toast.
Only burnt.
They were not dragged here in chains, they came of their own free will and are free agents, doing whatever they want. They drive cars, get government welfare, get jobs, send money home, have TV and internet.
Comparing a life like that to slavery is moronic. What a dunce.
Mario Rubio is a leftist idiot.
Rubio is a servant of the RNC and the elite establishment.
Nobody forced them to come here. They can go back any time they want to. No wall to stop them from coming or going.
Oh My GOD!!!!!! Really? If I was African American, I would be pissed!!!!!! What a jerk!
Rubio is going for the next dim-bulb-crat presidency.
Actually, during the Reconstruction era there were large numbers of people—former Confederate soldiers and officials—who did not enjoy full rights. This didn't change until Democrats regained control of state governments in the South. After Reconstruction most southern blacks became second class citizens, a condition that began to change in the 1950’s.
I’m all broke up inside, Marco.
Now how about you resign, you babbling idiot.
Actually, there is quite a bit of slavery that goes on in the guise of “illegal immigration.” It’s called human trafficking. Coyotes promise desperately poor people that they will bring them here and give them a better life, and when they respond to the promise of something better than what they have, they are sold into slavery. They are forced into manual labor or prostitution, and kept there by violence and threats.
And the Dems who stand against any kind of real immigration reform know exactly what they are doing. While they pay lip service to all the pablum about these being people who just want a better life for their families, they’re enabling real slavery.
There is nothing more irritating these days than a politician or their surrogates.
Time to crush the GOP political class who are busy empowering criminals and its time to make class warfare a two way street and declare war on domestic marxists.
“Slavery” is what is being foisted upon the American taxpayer by forcing them to work to pay for the hordes who are here ILLEGALLY.
Every adult immigrant, legal or illegal, in this country is through FREE WILL. The slaves were brought through their FATE, not their free will. The EVIL slavers (and the EVIL society back then) enslaved them. The EVIL south fought for keeping the slavery system alive.
My point: immigrants cannot complain or compare their situation to slavery. Blacks(and Native Indians) have far more traumatic history than any other groups in the country, including voluntary immigrants who break law and whine.
It's not right.
‘Slaves’? More like home invaders the police won’t arrest.
Remember this the next time someone starts mooning over Marco:
“He’s so dreamy!”
The GOP-e is setting itself up for something very unusual: a third loss to presidential dud. They’re that bad.
Africans were FORCED into slavery, NO ONE forces those from Central America to come here, they come by their own choice...
