Fmr Bush Chief Strategist Compares Conservatives to the Flinstones, Sarah Palin to the Kardashians

Matthew Dowd, former chief strategist for the 2004 George W. Bush campaign, apparently doesn’t have much of a soft spot for CPAC or for Sarah Palin.

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Dowd likened CPAC to no less than two prehistoric children’s cartoons, and not so subtly compared former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to Kim Kardashian. National Review captured the one-minute statement from Dowd:

“Matt, you’re just shaking your head. The whole thing, it makes you nervous, what do you say?” ABC host Martha Raddatz asked.

“To me, imagery and who’s there [at CPAC] and what you say is important, and I don’t think divisions are a bad thing,” Dowd said. “I actually think that a conservative message that is built for the 21st century would be a good thing. CPAC to me reminds me of, you know, ‘Land Before Time,’ and it’s like going to a Flintstones episode in my opinion.”

Raddatz asked if Dowd meant CPAC attendees were dinosaurs. Dowd nodded.

“It’s like a bunch of dinosaurs, most of them are like throwbacks in times, it’s like who’s running for Grand Poohbah of the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes is what it looks like to me,” he said. “When you have Sarah Palin, who it’s an amazing situation to me, between her and the Kardashians....

I got that Palin = Kardashian meant that she was just in politics for the publicity and liked having her picture taken.
If that’s what he meant, I would disagree.

But there are many, many others about whom that claim is true.

Well, that’s a surprise. I thought this would be another Karl Rove thread.

No matter, they’re all alike.

The Mat here is one of the guys the public voted against in 2006 when we lost the House!

I don't mind if those guys donate money but the public just doesn't vote for Republicans as long as they get the impression the party is overrun with gays. We have to keep them out of party organizations, candidacies, etc. If they want more they can go to the Democrats where they will be met with.........

Actually, the Democrats tolerate a couple of gays but that's it. Otherwise they're all mouth.

Pat Caddell, a DemocRAT, let the cat out of the bag in his speech at CPAC about scum like Karl Rove and Matthew Dowd.

Rove and Dowd are getting rich to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. One of the ways it works is this: For every dollar spent on advertising there's a 15% sales commission that the advertising agency gets.

In this case, the scam is that the consultant is the ad agency.

So if the consultant decides to spend a hundred million dollars on advertising, he's writing a check to himself for $15 million. It doesn't matter whether the candidate wins or loses, and it doesn't matter whether the ads are any good.

Caddell goes on to point out that this practice borders on RICO violations.

Here's a youtube video of Rush Limbaugh 'splaining what Caddell said....

Dowd is the kind of guy that I really despise. What did HE accomplish of any significance. Actually, it is Dowd who can be compared to the Kardashians, b/c he is a nobody w/o progressive money supporting him. Bob

That 15% thing has been true since we lived in caves. That’s why smart businesspeople have “in-house” ad agencies.

“for WHAT?”

For nation building, which they couldn’t say because the Younger ran against Gore on opposing the Clintonian version of it. They couldn’t say they changed their mind, because that’s always dangerous to lying politicians, but also because it would’ve popped the false distinction between the foreign policies of Dem and Pub.

He’s absolutely right about Goldwater. Old neocons are constantly having nightmarish flashbacks. The sad part is that they should know, since at tge time they were probably liberals, what a screwjob Goldwater got. Those mushroom cloud ads are nothing but embarrassing. Those psychologists who diagnosed him as a madman from their armchairs are a common retrospective joke. Everyone knows how disastrously LBJ crashed and burned in his next term.

Can we at long last admit conservatism got not fair shake in ‘64?

If Jimmy Carter gave us Ronald Reagan, how do you explain Obama 2?

I think voters gave us all of them!
