IN POLITICS, snubs are more important than invites.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican and social conservative, has been refused a speaking spot at the Conservative Political Action Conference to be held this week just outside Washington.
CPAC, as it is known, is the Ames Straw Poll without the fun.
The Ames Straw Poll held in Iowa has free drinks, free eats, free face painting and free country music followed by a bunch of speeches and a meaningless presidential straw poll.
CPAC has a bunch of speeches and a meaningless presidential straw poll.
Previous CPAC straw poll winners have included President Jack Kemp (three times), President Phil Gramm, President Steve Forbes, President Gary Bauer, President Rudy Giuliani, President George Allen, President Ron Paul (twice) and President Mitt Romney (four times.)
Winning the CPAC straw poll would be a kiss of death except that two winners - Ronald Reagan (three times) and George W. Bush (once) - actually survived it and went on to the Oval Office....

Most all of the current Republican leadership in Congress. Where have you been? Have you heard any of them say anything negative about him? Have you read any of the editorials (granted, they are not Republicans but they do get their quotes from them).
Really, I could Google all of the positive responses regarding Christie but I think you could also do the same and same me the time.
The number of punchlines are endless.
Chris Christie wears pantyhose and eats buttered sandwichs.
Yes, that is always the retort until the 3rd party become the dominate party. Such is life though - always fighting the losing fight until you win.
I could care less about Christie. I was talking about his ideology - he is not a Conservative. If you want to argue that then bring on the facts.
Which party did Abraham Lincoln belong to during his one term in the House?
Exactly. In fact, Van Jones and Fluke are about as socially conservative as you can get.
Find me a recent quote by a congressional Republican praising him.
Well, there's some real good ones but there's this one thing...you see...they ain't natural born citizens dontcha know. Not eligible after all. And not pure.
Oh, they will throw a fit, but then we will FINALLY be able to prove to them that not a single expert agrees with them.
Then they will start a “3rd Party” which will attract enough people, nationally, to fill half of a football stadium.
Come on, it has always been on FOX News... Almost everybody that came on there (all Republican leaders) praised him. The alternate would be - find me someone in the Republican Party that dissed him.
Same for other channels - I don’t watch CNN much but from what I did, they always praised Christie. When you praise Obama, you get praise from the media! He does do this praise of Obama ya know, put it down to electability in his State.
Maybe you could tell me when CNN or MSNBC or even FOX (except for a few that understand him) actually said anything negative about him!
All you have to do is watch the cable news channels.
I find it interesting that you differentiate between the two.
Well yea, but I’d still like to hear Christie’s remarks to CPAC. I aint skeerd of him and CPAC shouldn’t be either.
Actually, I don’t either! My problem is much deeper with CPAC in general. Talking about the Muslim connections (search on you own).
The problem I have is so many Conservative speakers available and so few to invite. Under that scenario, Christie would be left out. Personal choice although others may have different opinions.
Then we get into the political area whether CPAC has become something other than what is started out as...
Do your own research.
Thank you.
LOL!
“New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican and social conservative...”
If the Progressives can get him labeled “Conservative” and the GOP rejects him, then anyone nominated will be “Extreme”.
Duh: I differentiate between them because they’re two different men.
