Opening the first immigration hearing of the new Congress, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee warned his colleagues not to use the term "illegal immigrant" as the debate goes on.
"I hope no one uses the term illegal immigrants here today. Our citizens are not the people in this country are not illegal. They are are out of status. They are new Americans that are immigrants," said Rep. John Conyers Jr., Michigan Democrat.
As Congress begins the immigration debate, both sides are preparing for an emotionally charged fight, and language will be one of the battlegrounds.
Many immigrant-rights advocates object to the terms "illegal" and "alien," saying that people cannot be deemed illegal, and that the word "alien" makes them sound inhuman. They argue the better terms are "undocumented migrants."
Many newspapers, including The Washington Times, use the phrase "illegal immigrant," deeming it the most accurate description...

I prefer the term invader myself.
“Press 2 for English”
I prefer the expression “Trespassing Foreign Nationals,” but everyone recognizes the expression “Illegal Aliens” and to use something else somehow obscures the issue the way the expression “Affordable Health Care Act” gave obamacare the illusion of being less evil.
“Affordable?” I still can’t believe there were so many suckers willing to let Washington define what “affordable” meant.

In order to "get by" in America, you'll have to speak Spanish?
This really p****s me off----these snotnoses thumb their nose at US laws----they are not even legit citizens---- and they're already telling Americans what to do, how to think and what to say.

WILL THE HEARING FOCUS ON THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (notorious for SEN MENENDEZ'S SEXCAPADES)? the Dominican Republic is a Caribbean nation notorious for corrupt governments and strong-arm dictators.
Despite US politicans' fondness for the "amenities" at its posh resorts, and celebrities relaxing at posh villas spending big bucks there, the DR has no safety net or state-sponsored job creation for its largely impoverished citizenry.
The one million Dominican citizens currently living in the US send home about a billion dollars annually---which is considered by the corrupt do-nothing DR govt to be a major source of state revenue. A steady exodus leaves for US shores lured by the endless US gravy train.
The Dominican Government has obviously been colluding w/ Sen Menendez. They have cunningly figured out that massive financial benefits would derive from amnesty, by supplying hordes of their impoverished citizens as pressure groups.
The sub rosa deals exchange alien votes for foreign aid---zillions of us tax dollars straight into the pockets of corrupt third world federales .....more below
