10K per year on a 200K home?? you serious?? WOW, Why would anybody live there in the first place with taxes like that. No wonder they want your guns, the Sheeple should have revolted a Long time ago.
$10,000 a year is the median property tax bill in Westchester county (just north of NYC). We also have some of the highest housing prices, sales tax and state income taxes.
I know plenty of people who pay at least $12,000 per year and not for a large house.
We lived in Corning, NY, for a year. $12,000/year taxes on our $300,000 home. We were amazed that people wern’t ... well ... amazed at their bills. They just paid the bills without question. Income tax was obscene. You’re right: “Sheeple”.
My mom, very low income, receives good perks (utility and medical assistance, for example) as a senior citizen in NY. We mitigate some of the shock of the taxes we paid as ultimately helping her. If we couldn’t resort to that rationalization, we still be pissed 10 years later.
