Amazing that the Big Bird non-issue is considered worthy of an ad campaign. On second thought, not that amazing when they’re obviously grasping at straws. There are two aspects to this. The first is obvious and that is that Obama and his crew are suffering from the widely observed Costanza/jerk store effect. They won't let go until they've satisfied themselves that they've gotten in a good retaliatory zinger. The other, more important, aspect is that when Barnicle & Todd ask why can't Obama stop talking they subconsciously mean "why won't Obama stop talking about the debate"? They want it to go away. They are embarrassed. Their self image is challenged in an uncomfortable way when someone they elevated to godhood so manifestly, undeniably messes himself in public.
