DENVERPresident Barack Obama, stung by bad reviews in his first debate of the 2012 White House race, joked that the "very spirited fellow" onstage with him was "not the real Mitt Romney." Obama also mocked the former Massachusetts governor's pledge to cut government subsidies for PBS as "finally getting tough on Big Bird."
"When I got onto the stage, I met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be Mitt Romney," he told cheering supporters here. "But it couldn't have been Mitt Romney, because the real Mitt Romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5 trillion in tax cuts that favor the wealthy."
"The fellow onstage last night said he didn't know anything about that," Obama said. The president then gave the same treatment to Romney on education and other issuesand hit back at one of Romney's debate zingers, "I maybe need to get a new accountant," uttered in a spat about outsourcing and whether companies can take a tax deduction for shipping jobs overseas.
"We know for sure it was not the real Mitt Romney because he seems to be doing just fine with his current accountant," Obama said....

Does anyone know what 0bama was referring to, with the frequent comments about $5 trillion in taxes for the rich, being a big issue in Romney’s campaign? I admit to not having paid much attention to the details of some of what Romney has proposed (some ABO mentality, I suppose), but does Romney have any such plan?
In addition to Big Bird, Romney’s going to get Wookie Monster off the government payroll too.
The debate’s over, Barack. You lost.
Fact is the creators of Sesame Street and other PBS programs have made millions off programs we the tax payers funded. It has long been time to let them pay their own way.
He couldn’t even comprehend what Romney was saying, much less debate it.
Someone has to get tough on this scam. Big Bird alone rakes in, wait for it..... over Fifty Million Dollars per year in merchandising revenue.

Oh, but it gets better. Barney brings in.... you may want to sit down for this one... Five Hundred Million Dollars per year.

To continue to beg for tax dollars is criminal.
Exactly right. Who wins the election will say a LOT about the electorate in this country, which I think overall has been incredibly dumbed-down over the past several years.
If Obamugabe loses, I will have great hope for the future of this country. If he wins... I fear the worst...
As always, I pray that the good people in the Red States will bale out those of us stuck in the socialist Blue states (like my state of Connecticut, with its stupid electorate).
Your typical little punk. No balls to say any of this last night, sans teleprompter and adoring pimple-faced numbskulls.
Who's yer daddy?
LOL!
When I was much younger, we never heard of community organizers.
We called those people rabble rousers.
Be sure to remind folks that the OWNERS of Big Bird make $75 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR off of it.
So, WHY are we subsidizing it, again?
Agreed! thanks for the links.
Lets all give obama the bird on his way out.
Great pic!! I’m no fan of Mitty but anybody who rips on Baraq gets my support.
Seems obvious that if Sesame Street is a viable program, it might get picked up by a non-taxpayer-funded cable or network station, but then Obama wouldn’t have thought of a market-based solution.
