When you stick in an apostrophe intending go make the singular into a plural, the apostrophe actually makes it SINGULAR POSSESSIVE, which derails your whole sentence.

While we’re being elitist snobs here, there’s another thing that torques me down tight! And that’s when people attempt to illustrate a dissimilarity between one object vs. another by saying it’s “different THAN.”

Nothing or noone can be DIFFERENT THAN something or someone else!

It or they can be BIGGER than, SMARTER than, PRETTIER than or RICHER THAN. But they cannot be DIFFERENT THAN! They can only be different FROM something or someone else.
