Mitt Romney's Presidential campaign launched a stealth ad in Ohio, POLITICO first reported this morning.
The ad is also running in Iowa, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Nevada, according to the tracking service TVEyes. It began airing on morning television programs today.
The ad features Hillary Clinton attacking Obama during the contentious 2008 Democratic primary, for spending "millions of dollars perpetuating falsehoods."
She adds, "So shame on you, Barack Obama."
Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith sends this response to the ad:
Mitt Romney might not like the facts of his private sector record: that he was a pioneer of outsourcing and reaped massive profits while bankrupting companies and laying off workers, but that is exactly what he did as a corporate buyout specialist. And thats not just Romneys record, its what hes proposing today. In fact, hes promised to give budget-busting tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans on the middle class dime and allow corporations to avoid U.S. taxes on overseas profits, which would encourage companies to move jobs abroad. America cant afford an outsourcer-in-chief in the Oval Office.
Same special pleading in this carping about Mitt. Mitt didn’t keep every single job onshore with Bain, but he saved a lot more over here than Obama ever has (Obama has only lost them).
The comments over at Buzzfeed are overwhelmingly by Obamabots.
THAT is a GREAT ad. This certainly isn’t the McCain campaign.
When you don't have a good response, try changing the subject.
Is it just me, or does Mitt sound like Jack Bauer / 24 (”the following takes place between ...) ... at the end of the ad when Mitt says “I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message”
It’s that tough-guy quiet understated I’m-a-little-tired-from-battle humble 1/3 whisper. Funny coming out of Mitt.
Romney needs to call BS on this before it becomes "conventional wisdom". The truth is that the US practice of taxing offshore income (AFIK the USA is the only country that does this) encourages corporations to move their domiciles to foreign countries.
A similar American practice helped turn my hometown (Toronto) into a powerhouse in the music business. Back in the 1970s, the US taxed recording artists on their worldwide sales, which led American acts that had a worldwide fan base to record their albums in Toronto to avoid excess taxation.
Thanks for posting the link.
That’s a pretty good ad.
Yeah cool ad
Kinda ironic Hillary calling somebody a liar
