Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus framed the presidential election as a moral "battle for the freedom in this country" in a fiery speech Friday to the Faith and Freedom Coalition.
Priebus, not known as a bomb-thrower, said the country is facing a stark choice in November between President Obama and Mitt Romney.
"It's time to end the Barack Obama presidency before this presidency ends our way of life," he said to loud cheers from the audience of religious right leaders and supporters.
"We have to win this election, or we're going to lose this country, Priebus said. Collectivism will replace individualism, government agencies will replace free enterprise and the dreams of Obama will replace the vision of our Founding Fathers."
The RNC chairman said Obama is not "your daddy's Democrat" like John F. Kennedy or Bill Clinton, and would "rather bow to foreign leaders than stand up for America's greatness."
He also compared the battle between Obama and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney to the battle for freedom fought in World War II.
"We're in a battle for freedom in this country," he said, later ending his speech with an exhortation to beat Obama or else.
"Elect Mitt Romney, fire Barack Obama and save America," he said.
I would prefer John Kerry over Obama at this point.
Well then the GOPe shouldn’t have foisted a dem on us as our nominee. Yeah, I’ll probably vote for him, but enough conservatives won’t (rightfully so) that the election will remain in doubt until it is over.
And frankly, I’m not convinced romney will be any better than obama (lower cases intentional). I just know he can’t be worse.
Here’s a clue, GOPe leeches: You need a functional productive nation to suck on. The choices you’ve given us are slim (romney) and none (obama) for that. But parasites die when the host does, so congratulations on your decisions. Scum.
/obviously not directed at 2nd...
Heaven help us, you're right.
Hubert Humphrey would seem like Ronald Reagan compared to BHO.
Yeah, the bar has certainly been lowered since 2008. That’s sad.
[ If Obama wins, were going to lose this country ]
If thats true THEN............
WHy did we elect the inventor of Romney-care to run against the inventor of Obama-care?..
You know, we elected this knothead and every republican this side of Toronto is supporting him!...
Maybe we’ll become like Canada that can’t afford a decent military..
They pray the AMerican military umbrella will save them..
You know, like we’ve always done..
Gross out of control socialism cannot afford a decent military..
Thats why the Russians had all those rusty old hulks called tanks the democrats were afraid of..
And why they bankrupted themselves.. Oh the tanks were always starving for fuel.. and most of the tank crews were raging alcoholics..
Who can blame them, there were vacuous socialists everywhere there..
You know, like there is in Canada..
At the time, the worst anyone expected was the prospect of a Hillary presidency.
I actually know a Vietnamese family there who returned to Saigon to open up a restaurant. They told me it's easier to open up a business in today's Vietnam than it is to keep the doors open in Today's America.
We may have already lost the country under Obama. I have nothing positive to say about Romney. I can only compare the negatives between the two. If you see no difference you may want to travel outside of the country. You'll see what we use to be like.
“I would prefer John Kerry over Obama at this point.”
I would prefer Dennis Kucinich to Obama at this point. At least we would have a space program.
I do think Romney has a chance to get lucky because Obama's such a disaster for America. A shame we didn't get a conservative as our nominee this time around and that we wasted it on another RINO.
Now we are faced with the reality of Obama or Romney. The choice is clear to me, especially after the spectacle today.
Since half of the people on Free Republic will not Vote for Romney no matter what, and these are the same people who pay attention to what Obama is capable of doing (unlike the clueless Electorate), I guess it's pretty much over.
I guess we can start a Betting Pool to see which three “Progressives” Obama will put on the SCOTUS during his next term. We'll only be stuck with his choices for about 50 years or so. Obviously not a biggie around here for some folks.
Better to know that we destroyed our own nation with a legally eligible President than to find out that the man who destroyed us may have been constitutionally ineligible to be living in the White House in the first place.
I would prefer Osama over Obama. At least Americans would know that he too is a terrorist Muslim scumbag.
I think if Obama had thought Osama could have done a better job destroying America he would be alive today.
We are losing Her fast. I see it from here abroad in Asia. Many foreign people know this about dying America. This amnesty yesterday to millions of illegals is just one more of the final nails in the coffin, unfortunately. It was planned. The american People have not stood up to overturn this regime and throw the criminals out on the street or get them fleeing in exile to a socialist haven somewhere.
I would prefer John Kerry over Obama at this point
WOW, now you've gone and done it.
As a Nam Vet who hates the bottom-feeding, rat-bas-turd, scumbag, traitor with every inch of my being, and who invested some 9 months prior to the 04 elections working diligently with Swift Boat Vets and others to help expose this phony, fraudulent, lying, douchebag, and who has stated that if a gun was held to my head and ordered to vote for either Obama or the Devil, I would have to flip a coin, this is a tough one and something I had not pondered.
I guess much like choosing between Dear Leader and Beelzebub analogy, if push came to shove, I would probably also end up tossing a coin, although for strictly personal reasons as I don't think Kerry would be intentionally trying to harm/destroy our Republic as the Fascist, Neo-Commie has.
I thought about that after posting the comment. A coin toss is definitely the right way to go there. Only because I think John Kerry is an idiot.
Until they do he will keep pushing the envelope. What's next? An executive order for equal time for opposing views on AM Radio?
Even though I don't have a degree I'm looking for an English tutoring job in Asia.
