Nostalgia, Websters tells us, is a wistful or sentimental longing for places, things, acquaintances or conditions belonging to the past. For Barack Obama, nostalgia means turning the clock back to 2008, when the big crowds swooned and the gauzy promises of Hope & Change hadnt yet crashed into the realities of war, high unemployment and soaring gas prices.
Despite complaints that it doesnt have a vision for a second term, the presidents re-election team really does you just need a rearview mirror to see it. Judging from the slant of its advertising, fund-raising and Hollywood helpers, Team Obama believes the only way their man can get four more years is to pretend the last three never happened.
You cant blame them. If the president ran on his record, hed lose in a landslide. So hes not running on ObamaCare, hes running from it.
The big idea instead is to relive his major accomplishment in life getting elected, a historic first. Unfortunately, his standing has gone downhill since, so his handlers are trying to rekindle the magic by reminding voters of what they thought of Obama before he became president.
Its a neat trick, reminiscent of Soviet-style air-brushing, with the difference being the Obamabots are erasing years instead of rivals.
Of course, because you cant have a hero without a villain to vanquish, Sarah Palin is suddenly back, too. Even though shes not a candidate, she stars in a new Obama commercial that gins her up as dangerous and ends with a plea for contributions just like 2008 all over again.
The idea is to prop her up as a symbol of the GOP, then knock her down. Its no coincidence that the ad piggybacks on the themes of Game Change,

I am re-reading “1984” after 40 years. It was hailed by the left back then and it describes them to a T now.
It was much easier for the uninformed to worship a man with no record and no accomplishments when his resume had never provided an opportunity to accomplish anything. It's a whole lot harder now that he has had four years in power and still has done nothing beyond making everything he has touched far worse and trashing the fundamental First Amendment protections of our God-given rights.
Anyone watch an Obama speech lately? I know it’s hard to do but I recently forced myself. Wow! His rhetoric is nothing more than an army of strawmen. “Some are saying,” and “What’s with the notion.” ad nauseum, over and over. The crowd looked like they were held at gunpoint to be there while Barrack strutted and bleated, slashing at his imaginary strawmen. Using a tone he recently developed that I imagine he thinks sounds really cool. (It does not.)
I haven’t listened to him in awhile but this dude is one pathetic excuse for a leader.
What has happened to the Democrat Party? Have they become anti-American in order to gain favor with our pretend president? Or is there some other reason for the Democrat Party turning against the citizens of the United States?
This latest BO to emerge is not only sounding rhetorical, but he is hemming and hawing (I guess to sound more ‘down to our level’) and his tone is very confrontational.
Admittedly I am NOT watching or listening to him, I am getting the sound bites from talk shows and the garbage 'they' throw at us in the so called news...not the editing, just the tone and manner, no confidence, just a straight ‘in your face’ attitude- am really surprised he hasn't started an ‘urban/ghetto chique’ dialect, but guess that will not be far behind.. also his hand at ‘stand up comedy’ is lacking and the ‘throng’ that laughs behind him is as bad as any sitcom sound track has ever been.
If someone were able to ‘infiltrate’ and ask a ‘tough question’ we may get to see him implode and break out the ‘ball bearings’.
Needless to say, he will not be getting my vote (again) nor will any ‘donations’ be heading his way - except of course if he was raising money to ‘flee the country’, I would gladly contribute - providing, of course, he never return.
