Now a front-runner, Santorum is still winging it

After a shaky performance in Wednesday’s Republican debate in Mesa, Arizona, Rick Santorum did something rare for presidential candidates in his situation: He walked into the “spin room,” the raucous space where campaign advisers ply reporters with reasons why their candidate won the debate.

Other candidates typically leave such post-game cleanup to surrogates. Not Santorum. In a reflection of his free-wheeling and impulsive campaign, the former Pennsylvania senator dived in, complaining that rivals Mitt Romney and Ron Paul had ganged up on him during the debate.

Santorum’s move invited ridicule from Romney’s campaign. “Whiny silliness,” Romney adviser Stuart Stevens called the complaint. But it captured the improvisational nature of Santorum’s increasingly provocative run for the Republican nomination.

While Newt Gingrich‘s campaign presents itself as the product of his intelligence and Romney’s flexes its muscles with a parade of endorsers and advisers, Santorum’s campaign has never dropped the bare-bones model it used in winning the Iowa caucuses on January 3....

Which means we're screwed if he faces Obama in the Fall. Of course, we're also out of luck if Team Romney faces him. The Obama people have been building a campaign against Romney since 2008, not to mention that Milt is Obama in beige. I don't even want to think about a Wrong Paul campaign.

Both Rush and Joe Scarborough of MSNBC think that the Romney-Paul tag team is for real.

While I’m a Ron Paul supporter. One thing that have always annoyed me about him is that he never been much of a team player in the sense that he’s not a team for conservatives ideology (I don’t care if he’s not a team for gop). He constantly attack conservatives intentions, but I have rarely heard him ever attacking obama/dem personally

There’s increasing evidence that Ron Paul and Romney are teaming up, and of course at the moment it’s against Rick, since he’s the greater threat. If Newt comes back, then they’ll attack him again.

It was not a coincidence that Romney recently said that he might pick Rand Paul as his V.P. I think that’s the deal.

It was also true that Romney and the TV hosts stacked the audience with Mormons, who cheered Mitt and booed Rick. He had a legitimate complaint, and was well advised to speak out on it.

I almost seems obvious, watching them tag team Santos in the last debate. And you seldom see either candidate attack each other lately. And their ads seem very similar.

HHMMmmmmm........ Time will tell, but either way, If either Romney or Santos wins, Obama is eagerly awaiting either one. (especially Santorum) Newt would have been formidable and Obama knows it. Unless things turn around and they still can, we are not looking very good.

Santorum may win, and in the unlikely event he wins the White House, you can guarantee he will be a Social Conservative, Christian based leader, very much like George W. Bush. Fiscally, very much the same in that department also.

Complaing is a mischaracterization. He simply stated a fact and said he’ll deal with it.

Ron Paul’s ads in Iowa were almost totally aimed at Newt. Now it’s Santorum, though not with the same budget impact. Clear what he’s up to.

Your memory is short. Santorum was a major player in the welfare reform act which was a game changer for a while.

Some ron paul supporters think Ron Paul is going for Newt/Sanct voters because their voters haven’t settled on a candidate yet while those who support Romney are fixed

Can we force little rickie take off that sweater vest. I’m not a fashion police but that’s getting ridiculous day by day.

Geez. If this is the best excuse/lie Ricky’s supporters can find, I can only say it’s beyond embarrassing. Little/Cardinal Ricky wears sweater vest in order to create a ‘common’ guy imagery. It’s stupid.

"shaky performance"
There's an gross understatement.
Kind of like saying LSU had a bad night in the BCS game against Alabama.
The guy is out of this league, clearly.
Newt is being nice to him knowing he will self destruct.
But just watch his magnificent wins in MI and AZ!!!
Only "a willing suspension of disbelief" allows one to think Rick is Presidential material.
It'll be history soon enough.

Will the Republican party cease to exist as a viable (or legal) organization after the Obama victory against Romney or Santorum. The first thing Hitler did when he had absolute power was outlaw all other political parties. The very first thing.
