Osteen: Romney "believer in Christ, like me"
CBS This Morning ^ | January 16, 2012 | CBS This Morning

Posted on 01/16/2012 9:22:12 AM PST by Saundra Duffy

(CBS News) Pastor Joel Osteen, one of America's most popular religious figures, said on "CBS This Morning" that GOP candidate Mitt Romney believes in Jesus like he does.

"What I see about Governor Romney is that he says, 'I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, he's raised from the dead and he's my savior.' I see him as being a believer in Christ, like me."

Charlie Rose said, "That's enough for you?"

"That's enough for me," Osteen said. "There's differences in all religion. I realize Mormonism is different from Christianity, but you know what, he's a man of faith and values. And to me, that's strong."

It seems that the judges of who’s a Christian and who’s not congregate here on FR - it’s like a religion they have created - one that condemns everyone who doesn’t believe exactly as they do to hell. Very strange indeed but very telling.

You know...I've always found it a weak argument to call someone judgmental about who's in a who's not based on what they believe...especially when all they are doing is following the scriptures. Matter of fact, I have found it a fulfillment of prophecy: 2 Timothy 4:3

Jesus plainly states: "I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: NO ONE comes to the Father except THROUGH me. " Jesus condemns and judges with that statement...I am just a messenger. So...what is more telling? That some Christians stand by that verse and believe it as fact or that a preacher will go on Larry King and say it's not his job to stand by that verse and condemn those who won't believe in Christ as the only way? Saundra...please answer THAT question. WHAT is more telling in your opinion.

John 3:16 says He is the ONLY begotten Son of God. Not another begotten son...but the ONLY. But, in typical Joel Osteen fashion...he won't stand for the truth of scripture. He says "I know there is condemnation but I don't feel that's my place" (Larry King). But...as a pastor...of COURSE its his place.

Col 1:27, 28 - "For to them God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory, whom we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, so that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

Saundra...it just seems to me that your ears itch...and Joel scratches them for you. I would imagine if the Apostle Paul was preaching at the local town square...you probably wouldn't care much for him. You would probably think him judgmental...and kind of obnoxious.

False teachings of Islam: Think about it awhile, when the Jews rebuild their temple, who is most likely to succeed in fulfilling the desolalation. The Jews would more than likely allow/be deceived by a "brother" aka Ishmael, than by anyone else.

When you combine all the false religions: Mormon,Islam,Athiest, theOsteens of this world, (as false is false no matter what form it takes), it will be ISLAM that wins out in the long run. By then all the others will be vieing for seniority and convert, as they have so easily been duped in the past, this will be a piece of cake for them, as they could never admit they were wrong. TO LATE.

Mormons cannot or will not defend their religion. They constantly point to other people to show how Christian they are. They’ve never ever pointed to Joseph Smith, Jr. to show their Christianity. They’ve never pointed to their “prophets” to defend themselves. They know that if they did they’d be shown how false Mormonism is.They also quote the BoM and then find a verse in the Bible to say “See, even the Bible agrees with us.” You try to pin down a Mormon on their beliefs and they’ll squirt out the other side and accuse you of being anti-Mormon. That’s their out.

"You know, I have been condemned to hell so many times on this site, I lost count." Prove it, liar. You spittle that crap daily at FR and we post the teaching of your leadership at LDS inc which shows it is functioning in the spirit of anti-Christ, but you refuse to acknowledge that truth about your chosen religion and instead play misdirection and mischaracterization games. Is your behavior what folks should expect from all Mormons?

If you feel you're so often condemned to Hell at FR, perhaps you should look at your spirit directives, because no one I have read here has condemned you because Christians KNOW Whom is the real Judge thus we only use discernment to reject your lies, Sandy. If you feel condemned perhaps you should listen to the still small voice trying to get through to your deceitful soul. Do you agree with the following teachings from your past leaders at LDS inc?

"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]

"Again, they will try to tell how the divinity of Jesus is joined to his humanity, and exhaust all their mental faculties, and wind up with this profound language, as describing the soul of man, "it is an immaterial substance!" What a learned idea! Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven. Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation. I have given you a few leading items upon this subject, but a great deal more remains to be told. Now, remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost." [ LDS Prophet Bingham Young, JoD 1:50-51 April 9, 1852]

Given this mormonic teaching that is the very essence of Antichrist, you still mouth a belief that the mormonISM bloodless jesus is your Savior. And now you proudly count Loel Osteen as a heretic with you. Such an endorsement!

When Mormons ADDED to the Bible with their own book of Mormon, they started preaching a “different” gospel.

It is VERY clear from the Bible that any message outside of the Gospel is anathema to Christ, and Revelation is very clear about adding to the prophecies of Scripture. That is exactly what these extra-biblical teachings/prophecies of Joseph Smith are. He is a false teacher/prophet, and we are commanded to stay away from this kind of gospel.

You are committing a very embarrassing logical fallacy.

It's sad.

But what do you expect from a person that follows a worldview based on looking into a hat? Lol.

>>As far as I can tell the Bible does not say that God the Father did not have physical sex with the virgin Mary.<<

Can a spirit have physical sex?

Joyhn 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

If Mary had “physical” sex could she still have been a virgin or would she have lost her virginity at that moment? If Mary had physical sex would Jesus have been born of a virgin?

I’ll leave the rest of that list unanswered as it exhibits such a lack of Biblical understanding that it’s not worthy.

A priest, a Rabbi and Joel Osteen walk into a bar together and order, respectively, a Virgin Mary, an egg cream soda and a Coke. They start talking abut how they divide up the tithes.
The priest says, “This is an unfortunate fact of life for all of us. Without funding we would have to close our doors. I send half on and use the other half for operating expenses.”
Joel and the Rabbi agree, yes, operating a church and synagogue takes money too.
The Rabbi says, “I don’t know how to divide the contributions without being arbitrary, so each week I put it all in a pail and throw it down some stairs.
“We keep anything that makes it to the bottom, thinking that is what He wants.

Joel spoke up: “I put all the donations in a pail, too, then I toss it up in the air—whatever the Lord catches, He can keep.”

Osteen talks the talk, but he looks too much like Romney - slick and glib - to give me a sense of comfort that he sticks with the Truth of the Word. To equate Mormonism, which is based on a false prophet, is a little too “edgy” for me. I prefer non-denominational, Bible-based churches because they don’t make “distinctions” like most religions and will not endorse that which is not explicitly stated in the Bible.

The ‘strange’ methodologies of mormonISM are not found int he poorly written novel titled The Book of Mormon. To find the strange things one must look at the Journal of Discourses, the D&C, the imaginary Book of Abraham Joseph Smith fabricated from Egyptian pictograms from the Egyptian Book of the Ded burial rites. MormonISM is replete with blasphemies and heretical teaching. Perhaps Sandy believes she’s earning her right to salvation (MormonISM teachings a Mormon receives slavation ONLY after all that they can do to earn the gift of God’s Grace, which of course means they know nothing of what Grace is) by telling lies and making sick accusations at FR daily. Perhaps she is just a stealthy Romney promoter, painting Freerepublic in such a disgusting fashion to try and neutralize conservative opposition to her mormon brother Romney. Or perhaps she is so lost in MormonISM that she is unable to discern the blasphemies she embraces. Who can tell?

THE OSTEEN DANCE:

Come on everybody, get on your feet and do the Joel Osteen dance! It’s light and fluffy, without conviction or substance. All you have to do is look incredibly uncomfortable when Oprah asks a question about homosexuality, and then you stutter and stammer, wave your hands and give a weak acknowledgement that the Bible states homosexuality is a sin.

Mr. Osteen is the pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, TX. He is the author of several bestselling books and he reaches over seven million broadcast media viewers every week in over one hundred nations around the world.

His sermons are full of sweetness and light; “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life,” he assures. Be positive and happy, happy, happy and you will be blessed and even more prosperous. Just be nice and get along with people and pray once in a while. Oh yeah, be sure to give generously to the church so we can pay for this obscenely massive building with its coffee bar, recreational courts, youth center and so on. That pretty much sums up his teachings on how to be a Christian.

As a former member of the LDS Church and now a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, if Osteen thinks Romney is a Christian, then Osteen needs to get himself enrolled in a seminary ASAP. His lack of formal theological training is obvious on this point.

Call your Christian Broadcasters and demand your station tell the truth about Mormonism. They have a spiritual responsibility to be watchmen over their stations.

Jesus Christ is my Savior, my Redeemer, and my Best Friend. This is Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation and the Holy Ghost seals this in my heart. Deal with this: Jesus Christ gave His life for me to save me from my sins.

Do you pray to Jesus, Saundra?

More than you may think. He was kicked out of his church for challenging some of the gross ignorance there. The “main click” actually brought back some families who had not attended for YEARS, but were still on the membership rolls, to load the “court” to get him out.

It also explains why my county is still “dry”.
