I don't get it. Why do so many wackos and outright lunatics support Ron Paul? Just what is it about him that attracts such crazies?

Agreed, but what makes you think that Ron Paul is the only candidate willing or able to balance our country's books? It's the biggest issue on the table right now, and every candidate has GOT to be honestly resolved to reverse our suicidal spending.

The country is headed for financial apocalypse if drastic changes aren't made, and quick. Bachmann, Santorum, Cain, Paul, would all do their damnedest to fix that problem. I'm not convinced that any of the others would.

So, you've got four to choose from who would work to correct what you're most concerned about. Why Paul?

I’m not a nut - and agree with maybe 60% of what he stands for - but the 60% he stands for is so important to correct in our nation - that i support him for POTUS.

What is it that you agree with him on? Are you in support of him blaming America for 9/11? Or wanting queers in the military? Do you support his demanding under aged girls be allowed to cross state lines in order to receive abortions when they are not allowed in the state they reside? Are you in favor of his endorsement of OWS? Do you think, like him that we would be better off with OBL still on the loose so he can plot more attacks. Look up "cutting the Gordian knot." Ron Paul offers simple black-and-white solutions, and his supporters like that simplicity. They think he's going to "solve problems" for once and for all that will probably always be with us.

I'm not so sure about Ron Paul being the "earmark king" or a big spender, though. I'd want to see more evidence. The National Taxpayers Union has consistently given him A-ratings and -- for the last dozen years scores in the 80s or 90s.

That doesn't mean that he's sane or a good candidate for president, but it does suggest that some skepticism is in order when people call him a big spender. Ron Paul's own response to the earmarks' charge would probably be that he doesn't want to spend the money, but if it's spent he wants to know where it's going and he wants his district to get a slice.
