UPDATED w/The Video: ‘Sarah Palin Reconsider’ Ad In Iowa: Windmill Jousting, Doolittle Raid, Both?
The Other McCain ^ | November 25, 2011 | Smitty

via Surber, here is the ad:

(VIDEO AT LINK)

He says:

My take on it is simple: If she is on the ballot in the West Virginia primary in May, I shall vote for her. She is my first choice.

I’m even simpler: I’ll write the lady in, if possible. A lot of people, like Teach in the comments, are miffed that she took so long to bow out quietly. Maybe that’s her final word. Even if it is, the dangling threat of her lives rent-free in the mind of the Left. Let’s keep the mind-frak going, and fight for the Constitutional restoration we need, ye patriots.

Previously:

Via GinTheGin on Twitter, Conservatives4Palin reports:

Your contributions have made it possible for us to run the Palin reconsider television ad next week in the Sioux City, Iowa market. Thanks to everyone who chipped in to make it possible.

You’ll be able to see the ad that will be shown on televisions on KCAU-TV across the Sioux City, Iowa market on this blog and on youtube when it goes up next week. If you have any ideas on how to get this story more attention, let us know and feel free to push it yourself to people who may be interested. The target date for this ad going up is now November 29th as the Thanksgiving holidays pushed our initial target date of November 28th back. At the very latest, we expect to get it up on the Sioux City market on the 30th.

What we do next after the television ad goes up is a more difficult question. If this ad is able to build some momentum for the Governor, the best way to keep that momentum going may be to commission a national GOP primary poll that includes the Governor as one of the options. We’ll see if it’s possible given our resources. We’re open to other ideas but the greatest challenge may be that time is running short for her to reconsider.

Sarah is now a fortnight past the magic Reagan date (13 November) for declaring candidacy. Sure, I’ll write her in during the primary, and support whoever wins. Yeah, it would be 47 kinds of swell if this advertising campaign proved more of a Doolittle Raid on our Ruling Class Overlords than an exercise in tilting at windmills.

However, the tsunami of hormones that would be unleashed if Sarah were to enter the race is non-trivial. I really don’t want to consider her at the top of the ticket for more than about a one minute thought experiment. And that is merely to wonder if the the head ‘splosions on the left would reach critical mass, so that the rest of the Left could join Thomas Friedman in singing the China Syndrome Blues. Walking back the hyperbole, one could envision the winner of the GOP primary, especially in the case of Newt, trying to offer her the VP slot, to polish the résumé for a 2020 run. Because, whoever is going to be on the GOP ticket, the Tea Parties have got to ensure some continuity. Recovering from the Progressive hangover is going to be neither quick nor painless.

Besides: is there really better blog fodder than Sarah Palin news?

Update: now a Memeorandum thread, and via the Des Moines Register:

The ad is set to air beginning on Nov. 30. Palin, a conservative superstar and media phenomenon following the 2008 campaign, flirted with a presidential bid for months, but announced she would not run in a letter to supporters in early October.

The ad buy was announced this afternoon in a blog post on the Conservatives4Palin website. It is possible due to continued contributions to the organization, which is unaffiliated with Palin and her political operations. The group acknowledged that convincing Palin to run now is a long shot.

Theory: this is a little shot o’er the bow for the Dems, in case they hoist the Hillary flag.

That’s one way to get the first female president: both parties nominate a lady.

the real question is this, will conservative vote for the last GOP man standing or for Sarah Palin possibly as an independent?

Okay, so what it Sarah does not run and Hillary does? Did our side then create a monster with no knight to save us?

Remember, for every action there is......

I did not know we were electing based on estrogen.

If we are we have Michelle Bachmann.

I hope we aren’t electing based on melatonin either.

When was the last time a backbencher from the House was elected president, do you know? Hint: It was a four-way race followed shortly by a civil war.

Hillary isn't running, she isn't walking, she isn't going to want to go anywhere near a campaign, hell, she is just mailing it in now at the state department, and she has already announced that when this term is over, she will call it quits (i.e. even if zero is re-elected, she won't be coming back).

If, and its a big if, if she is thinking of running for prez again, it would be for 2016, and she has to clear up alot of debts and do a lot of bridgebuilding (note in her last campaign, she couldn't even get most of her husbands staff), and that might not be worth all the work.

Leave the ad creation to the pros.

That’s one bad ad ! Almost painful to watch.

William T. Sherman famously said of the presidency:
“If nominated, I will not accept; if drafted, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve.”
Governor Palin has said that she isn't a candidate for the nomination. But considering the options before us, I can't find it in my heart to change the tagline which I adopted 2 years ago:
Draft Palin
Until and unless someone else locks up the nomination.
Or Palin quotes General Sherman

She’d have had a tough enough time in the GOP. She wouldn’t have a shot as an independent. All she could do is siphon off votes. I think that the conservatives have enough of a voice this time that we could get a somewhat conservative but still imperfect but way better than 0bama candidate.

I think somehow they will force Cain to withdraw, and possibly even Perry, if not Perry they will go after Newt, they want Romney but the conservative majority that is mostly silent will not have any part, they won’t vote for Romney no matter what, and if they lose Cain they will not vote for Newt or Perry.

They will write in Sarah Palin, I think its totally underestimated the what could be described as an underground grass root support campaign that is working around the clock.

Without major cash flow, without any network TV advertisements, just folks telling their friends and neighbors, committed totally and to the end, they will not change, call it the Monty Hall effect of politics, they chose door number #1, and won’t consider any bribe or offer.

“I hope we aren’t electing based on melatonin either.”

Only if you are voting for Huntsman.

I agree with you totally as I see myself writing in her name under those circumstances and maybe regardless. There is not a single candidate, including Cain, that makes me want to vote for them.

If she hadn't been such a b!t&h to her fellow liberals, she would have been able to put together a decent campaign team, and she would have beaten Obama.

At the end of the day, people like her, wind up getting tired, they do eventually want out, and/or just do as little work as possible for as much money as possible.

After election day, she'll probably join a few corporate boards, hit the speaking circuit, do some speeches, write some books, and maybe, just maybe, do a little consulting work (aka either lobbying or lending her name to a lobbying firm), along with, and this is a bigger longshot, do some T.V. work where she offers some so-called foreign policy analysis for a paycheck, doing this once in a blue moon pundit thing.

At this point, if you just look at her, she looks like she has already checked out, and is just mailing it in now.
