When Gov. Sarah Palin was deciding whether or not to get into the presidential race, Karl Rove was popping up on Fox News to talk about why her skin was too thin for the job. And when Gov. Rick Perry was thinking about his entrance into the race, Rove was Johnny-on-the-spot with reasons why a Perry candidacy would not be viable either.
Now Roves moved on to Herman Cain, whose candidacy hes doing all he can to sink, sidetrack, or otherwise derail.
On Fox News this past Monday, Rove did his best Mr. Rogers imitation by holding up a small dry-erase board with words (and phrases) for the day like abortion, neoconservative, Afghan policy, etc. According to Rove, Cains gaffes in these areas have rendered him unelectable.
How so? Well, according to Rove: I think it has created an image of him as not being up to this task. [And] thats really deadly.
Of course, its important to keep in mind the fact that Rove is an establishment Republican who supports McRomney And if someone really wants to focus on gaffes, they should focus on McRomneys deception on hiring illegal lawn care workers, his full-blown support of Roe v. Wade not so long ago, his support of the assault weapons ban, his support of the Brady Bill, and his ongoing belief in manmade global warming, among other things.
But I guess all that wouldnt fit on Roves little board. Anyway, while on Fox News Monday Rove talked about how there was a hint that Cains numbers had peaked sometime between October 6th and October 10th, and they had begun to slide slightly since then. In other words, Move on, people; theres nothing to see here.
However, the latest Zogby poll, taken October 18-21, well after Cains supposed slide had begun, shows that Cain would trounce McRomney and, by extension, Rove into the ground.
And even better news is the fact that Cain doesnt appear to be the least intimidated by Rove (which is another quality salt-of-the-earth people love in Cain). However, he does appear a bit perturbed at Roves antics: Its a good thing the voters are not looking at Karl Roves little whiteboard. [Because] I believe it is a deliberate attempt to damage me because I am not, quote unquote, the establishment choice.
In the end, Cain is doing the right thing by brushing Roves duplicitous criticism aside and asking: Why not go with the choice that the people seem to like?
It really is quite simple: We can either have another Rove-anointed McCain who will lose to Obama again or we can let the Tea Party guide us to victory via the candidate of their choice.
My opinion Why not trust the people on this one?
Lol whatever you say, dood.
Me, too. Tennessee primary. Cain. I’m not voting for Romney. A lot of people aren’t voting for Romney. -
Choosing between Frick & Frack is no choice.
Nevermind the fact that he was right about Palin and Perry.
Is Rove trying to warn us about something? It sounds like he’s saying “Cain is no McCain!”
Happy to place a bet on it. I realize many people here will have their heads explode at the thought, but it’s pretty simple.
To win elections you need organization...Cain has none.
He hasn’t been vetted yet and the press will vet him to the hilt because they don’t want an African American conservative to win...they never do.
Again, happy to place a bet on this if you wish, but Cain is not going to win the nomination. I’ll go so far as to say he won’t finish in the top 2...I’m giving you great odds.
Any takers?
He’s not my candidate Johnnie...let’s be clear on that. I’m just saying Romney is going to win the nomination.
Quite frankly, I think just about every candidate on the GOP side is beyond weak this year. I like Newt on some things, but he’s not electable. Santorum I like a on few things, but no way is he electable...he couldn’t even win Pennsylvania.
It is what it is...Romney is going to win the nomination. Doesn’t make him “my candidate”, I’m just telling you who is going to win and it’s not hard to figure out. The first four states are crucial and he has significant leads in 3 of the 4 states and small lead in the 4th. That will give him all the mojo he needs.
If Cain slides, it may come down to Romney and Newt.
The Romney defenders can try to force him down our throat, like they did with that nitwit McCain, but this time we aren't buying.
LOL!
The polls suggest your 75% number is totally unfounded
Any takers?
I've been through this "let's bet, I'm giving great odds" crap before with FR blowhards until we need to put up the cash.
OK, one more time.
Great odds are 10 - 1. I'll take those odds.
I put up $ 100, you put up $ 1,000 and I win if Herman comes in either one or two as the pubbie candidate.
We send the money to JimRob, and the winner gets their money returned, the losers money stays with FR.
Tell me when you are ready to send the money to FR and we can conclude this transaction.
If you decide that you don't have either the money or the balls for this bet, don't bother with any weak kneed excuses, your actions will define your backbone.
Those are great odds, too great. You seemed so confident that he’s going to win I would think you would go for something a bit lower.
I gave you an offer, you apparently don’t want to take it.
He won’t finish in the top 2...I’m giving you multiple outs (better odds).
Kevin, you are SO right! Very astute observation, and thank you for posting it!
Phil...as always...AWESOME!!!
What polls are you looking at?
The rest of us know that Cain is leading in all but NH, and one stupid Iowa poll that had Paul winning with 80%+.
Romney doesn’t get out of the 20s in amost any poll. Really, you are just spouting nonsense.
This poll...he leads in the first four states
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2011/10/new-polls-show-1.php
He’s in the 30’s in Florida and in the 40’s in New Hampshire, but feel free to believe that isn’t the case.

Tokyo Rove’s 15 minutes were up some time ago. It is time for him to stick a sock in it and go away permanently.
Do you have some credible poll that shows Mitt Obamney with MORE than 25%? More than 30%? Nationwide? Also, conservatives who ARE conservatives have every reason to defeat Mittens Obamney.
Mittens can be trusted to be a complete treasonweasel to conservatives on: the babies, marriage, guns, taxes, law enforcement, SCOTUS and other fedcourt and administration nominations, getting rid of Obamacare which is nearly as much his dimwitted idea as it is Obozo's, military, foreign policy, monetary policy, and, for those who get worked up about it, as to the border security issue. The Mittwit would play up to every idjit elitist cause imaginable: cap 'n' trade, environmental whackoism, "man-made global warming" or "man-made global climate change" or whatever the lying title of the week is for that fraud of AlGore, anti-death penalty, government unions, gay everything, other perversions, appoint elitist birdbrain leftists (like John Paul Stevens or Swish Souter or Herod Blackmun) to SCOTUS, and probably start whining about the "military-industrial complex," in an attempt to disarm our country and cave to its enemies since only money matters to trash like the Mittwit. He is a windtunnel elitist pig and no conservative. If Mittens got his paws on the presidency, he would single-handedly destroy the Republican brand permanently and so identify the GOP with his worthless investment banker butt boys and other rampaging fiscal rapists that the GOP will probably cease to exist within about half a term. Within the GOP, he would see that the heavy hand of grossly subsidized Wall Street bailout beneficiaries will finance to the hilt ever ideological mushball or leftist in the country seeking the GOP nomination for any important office. Charlie Crist and Lincoln Chaffee and Mike Castle and their ilk would be back in the saddle. Thanks, but no thanks.
George Will (not a particularly blood and guts conservative himself) has publicly wondered what has happened if Obamney can sneak past the conservative movement and be nominated by the GOP. What indeed??? We need not merely to defeat Romney but to absolutely destroy the spaghetti-spined SOB totally so he will never show his treasonweasel face in public again.
These idiotic debates run by the leftist enemies of our movement, our party, our nation and of Western Civilization so as to create a false bandwagon of faux "inevitability" for a sorry SOB like Mittens should NEVER be repeated. The only worthwhile format yet this year was the one in South Carolina run by Jim DeMint and featuring individual questioning of the candidates outside the presence of one another by conservatives with living brain cells.
That having been said and the candidates being committed to more of this insane lame stream media format, it is time for a conservative elimination contest. Winner is the one who most spectacularly performs a final political decapitation of Romney on national TV. It is a contest for any and all of the other candidates other than Huntsman. Winner gets nominated. Even paleoPaulie can win minor GOP and conservative credentials (but please NOT the nomination) by concentrating his fire on the Mittwit. Even paleoPaulie has issues on which he is correct.
Sarah Palin promised not to seek the GOP nomination in 2012. She said nothing about running Independent. She should petition her way onto the ballot in all 50 states as an Independent candidate, start campaigning hard, rip the nads off Obozo and the Mittwit, and announce that her name will be withdrawn from every state's ballot as soon as Romney is driven from the race, quits, or otherwise evaporates firmly and finally for the duration of the 2012 cycle.
Don't let the Mittster flatter himself for one moment by wallowing in self-pity and publicly imagining that his Mormon affiliation had anything whatsoever to do with his destruction. If he had been a better Mormon, he might have been a better candidate and public official. I have known many Mormons in Young Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom and each and every one was, by far, morally superior to Mittens, the Plasticman. One might say that most Mormons have been fine public officials. That does not include Frank Church, anything named Romney and anything named Udall.
Mitt Romney, Son of Brainwashed George Romney, is even less of a Republican than his pathetic late father and mother. Brainwashed II (assuming that there is anything to launder) is NOT going to be POTUS. Worst case scenario: Obozo is re-elected as we gain control of Senate by a good margin and widen control of the House. In any second Obozo term (which can only occur through the Mittwit staying in the race), he gets absolutely NO judges confirmed at any level and total unified GOP resistance to make this term look like child's play. The GOP actually goes to political war for a change and utterly destroys the "progressives" running the Obozo regime and the Demonrat caucuses in Congress. It will be a laborious effort but our country and our party are worth the effort. ANY "Republican" collaborating with Obozo, Reid, Pelosi, et al., gets destroyed more vigorously than Obozo. Treason is always worse than simply playing on the wrong team.
