Sarah Palin is a very special American, she appeared to be our next Ronald Reagan, but with her deicsion not to run, what should we do?
Sarah Palin was my hope for America! And while her future was uncertain I was unwilling to listen to the babble of Republican Primary. I was set on Sarah. For me, she was the answer, and I honestly believed I would be able to cast a ballot, whether it be Republican or Independent for Sarah. Sarah seemed to have that rugged American personality which had not been corrupted by special interests and assimilated into the neo conservative view of globalism. Sarah appeared to be an America First candidate, one with an inherent optimism based on what she knew of America and our history.
When I read the headline stating her decision not to run it was like having the wind knocked out of me. My first emotion was disappointment, my second was futility. America is collapsing and it's not just economically. We are not an America of Christian values, our President has denied we are a Christian nation. I said to myself; I will just sit this one out, let America burn in its own selfishness and wait for the only remaining political answer, secession!
And, if Sarah was driven out of the race by the politics of personal destruction then we deserve every evil which happen to us.
But then God got into the act. This morning while preparing for Mass I turned on CNN, to see first Herman Cain and then Michelle Bachmann interviewed by a heavy set liberal woman named Candy.
My first impression of the interview questioning was the obvious bias in every word said by Candy. Her point of view had two purposes, one to create tension between the half dozen Republicans running for office and secondly to demean first Herman and then Michelle. No questions were asked which attempted to find out the issues and positions of either candidate. Instead questions were intended to establish false realities, or to minimalize the political potential of either candidate. Candy did her best to walk these two Republican conservatives into discussions which could not help them with the electorate. And in every case the two were smart enough to avoid the purpose of the question. At one point, in obvious frustration, Candy said to one of the candidates, would you admit you have avoided the question?" The answer given seemed to say; no, I just didn't answer it the way you wanted me to!
This was my first time to listen to either of the candidates for any extended period of time and I was impressed by both of them.
Herman Cain is for real. He has lived, risen in the business community, has life experience and seems to have a solid intellectual and character foundation. And one great advantage for Cain is that he is an African American and can speak to issues of race without having to couch his terms in apologies and understatement. Cain also knows business and knows the American economy cannot be engineered to take off through government projects.
Michelle Bachmann is very sharp in her interview skills and knows her views on governance. She also knows politics. My great worry about Michelle is that Congresspersons normally don't have a large enough electoral base to translate into at least a statewide start. Michelle has an advantage over Herman in that she knows what being elected to office means. She knows the connection between office and constituency and policy. And she has an understanding of legislative politics that only someone serving, or their staffs, can know.
Where Herman and Michelle are equal is that they are both excellent thinkers and speakers and they both seem to have a solid conservative philosophical base.
So this morning when I woke up I was sitting out the GOP primary, and by the time I got into the truck to drive to Mass I was reinvigorated by the choice of these two Americans. Thank you God.
I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me, too. Been researching the options. I’m taking a serious look at Newt, FWIW. Never thought I would.
He understands America, our Constitution and founding.
He understands the depth of the damage Obama has done.
He has presented a good plan.
He has the expertise on how the 3 branches work in order to undo the damage and restore America as quickly as possible.
He can build coalitions and consensus.
He has admitted he was wrong about man-made global warming and has stopped beating that drum.
He is not embraced by the elite.
He seems to be the only one standing who has spoken of the need for energy independence.
I know he has baggage, but who doesn’t?
He could whip Zero’s behind in debates and govern on a world stage after elected.
Anyway, that is what I am thinking now. Looks like with states moving up primary dates, we won’t have much time to vet them.
re: Sarah
I think her decision to not run for POTUS has more to do with continuing to build a foundation for restoring our Republic. I think she thought:
1. There is a chance that BO could get re-elected through Alinsky tactics and voting fraud, money, the GOP machine and the media.
2. Even if a Republican gets elected, there is a chance it would not have been her. (Due to the same reasons in #1)
3. Her efforts could be more productive by helping to get the right kind of Tea Party Conservatives elected to the House, Senate, Governor, and other state offices. That way, it wouldnt make as much difference if BO or a RINO is President. Kinda following her same efforts for 2010. Building that strong foundation in the Legislative Branch and the States.
Just like her One Nation bus tour and speeches. She is inspiring people to reconnect with the spirit and history of our founding and what makes America exceptional. Inspiring citizens to get involved in the issues and the fight. That is why she keeps saying you dont need a title to make a difference. She is setting the example.
I also doubt she will endorse anyone in the primary. She would rather the individual get involved and do their own research, vetting, and decision-making. That builds a sense of ownership and makes for a more lasting restoration.
Does any of that make sense to you guys?
I’m still recovering, so I may be rambling.
She is not going to be running in 2012, so get over it, select the next best candidate and continue the war to end democrat supremacy in any of the branches of government.
They are the enemy, they are the target.
Perry supporters are enthusiastic about someone who pretends to be one when he campaigns........
He never voted to give illegal aliens more rights than AMERICAN citizens, if thats what you mean.
The story behind this is real. Cain would have rather captured him. Obama took him out. Don’t blame Cain for that call.
Why do I need a governor to be qualified for President. Are you going to tell me the man has never been in charge. Perry is still there but I’ll be damned if he goes just because he’s from Texas.
Thank you for the background information, GF!
Good to see you!
It may be Sarah’s 1968 (remember reagan tried but did not get nomination in ‘68). Its possible that Palin just has alot of personal issues to deal with. She has a couple of daughters approaching those pivotal teenage years plus I am sure that raising a special needs child has issues most of us really cant relate to. Perhaps the fire just isn’t in her belly to run for president. There could be a number of reasons. But she “gets it” in terms of where this country needs to go and she can use her influence to take it in that direction.
“I enjoyed your satirical reply. But I am disconcerted that some take it seriously! Golly!”
Repeatedly validating his comment.
Hiya Billyv!
Lack of *government* experience doesn’t bother me at all.
I am looking for honesty and no corruption. No backroom, crony deals. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. TEA PARTY ALL THE WAY!
I think we can choose wisely, all on our very own.
Well, that’s your opinion, and you’re welcome to it.
I don’t think Perry supporters are particularly enthusiastic, they’re just glad that he has the courage to enter the arena. Same goes for Cain or Bachmann supporters, they back actual candidates, not some imagined torchbearer.
These folks are Fast and Furious! It is turning to war. God Bless Free Republic!
As to "courage to enter the arena", he rarely peeped until he saw that he could be the first A & M grad to run for president. I'd call that opportunism, not courage.
Ignore 'em!
We're supposed to be TEA PARTY PATRIOTS here and the vast majority of us are!! We have House & Senate elections too!
Sarah Palin will have a lot to do with those elections!
The Palin haters and the anti- Herman Cain posters trolling here are the very same posters! NOT surprising!
We'll choose wisely on our very own, despite the SPAM trolling by those scant few haters.
"God Bless Free Republic!" Amen!
Forward with Confidence! GO TEA PARTY!
“If you are a Palin Patriot what should you do now?”
Become a Patriot Patriot.
I think that’s cute and funny that you said that Governor Perry kissed you on your *right* cheek! :)
What matters is who can defeat the two vile and dishonest progressive statists, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. Everything else is background noise.
YES! and he also held my throw away camera while he took the picture of the two of us together: cheek to cheek!!
Pretty nice, huh?
“With his extensive political experience, Perry is an excellent governing conservative. He has to deal with real world issues, been re-elected in a conservative state, and maintained a fairly steady conservative direction”
But he doesn’t have any plan to defend. All he can do is say “cut taxes.”
Cain has something specific and he knows it inside-out.
