Never stay home. There are always important local/state elections. Get out and support (or eliminate) your county commissioners or state senator.
Anyway, why waste emotional energy or kinetic energy on the issue of the Republican nominee today? Deal with it next November, which is *over a year from now*.
D= Obama
R= Daffy Duck
Daffy gets my vote!
OK, then just give up and stay home. That’ll show’em!!!
Jeez, stop talking about Huntsman. He will not be the nominee.
Headline: “JESUS DECLARES HE IS RUNNING FOR GOP NOD” -some worry he is not pure enough, may stay home and not vote.
No matter what... I will vote. I may have to hold my nose and shower/scrub in a tub full of bleach when I get home but I will vote. I can’t see O get another four years. If the GOP candidate is even a smidgen better.... my smidgen I mean itty bitty... then I will vote for that person. I may not be happy about it but the thought of O occupying the White House is just a nightmare to me. Just my two cents.
Well, I can see you won him over with that, cynwoody...those debating skills are as sharp as ever! Trained at the "Mitt Romney School of Charm"?
Romney is unacceptable. Period. If he's the candidate, may as well vote for the most acceptable conservative, because as I see it, the GOP won't be a viable force the next election.
It’s a quandry. if we get another “electable” candidate, or one whose time has come, like Dole, McCain, or Bush pere, or a “compassionate” conservative, our choice is how fast we want the handbasket to go.
Don’t vote, and we get there faster, or vote for the “electable” Rebulican, and get there slower.
But staying home is insane -- even if you leave the Presidential line blank, or go with a third-party option, there are downticket races that are important too.
Are you castigating me because I said why would anyone vote for him or that I mentioned his name at all.
There are those who say that you shouldn't waste your vote "sending a message".
OK. If nobody sends a message, how will they ever get the message? We've already figured out that holding our nose and voting for the lesser of two evils is still eventually going to lead to our destruction.
If the only thing they'll pay attention to is losing elections, what else can we do to send a message that they will understand?
I'll grant you it's a not the choice I'd like having to make, but it appears to be the only one that has any chance of working, because it appears that it's the only thing that they are willing to understand. You can't make someone understand something they're determined not to.
On the one hand...."Rahm-knee" is just obama spelled backwards. They are one and the same....if elected, "Rahm-knee" will fix nothing, repair nothing, cure nothing, but will advance the cause of socialism in this country by calling it something else.
However, IMHO, putting the stain and his regime back in office by not voting at all is simply unthinkable.
So, perhaps for your spouses benefit and to ease her mind a bit....think of it this way.
When we go to the polls next November and vote, instead of voting for the candidate with the "R" next to their name, all of us...and I mean EVERYONE must...repeat MUST vote AGAINST the stain.
Next November, and given the current crop of announced candidates with the "R" next to their name, this is the only thing all of us can do with a straight face and some justification of our actions.
Allowing Obama to have a 2nd term is absolutely NOT and option. I will be voting against him no matter who the GOP candidate may be. He has to be voted out. Period.
That’s ok.
When somebody resorts to ridicule, I have either spoke an unpleasent truth or I made a point they cannot refute.
Then, I’ll do a better insult so they realize their place in life. :D
Some do stay home if they feel there is no candidate they want to support. Some also vote for candidates that have no chance of winning. I usually end up voting against someone- Clinton, Kerry, Gore...Obama, because I am usually not thrilled with those that get the R nomination...I hold my nose and vote for them anyway. I sure wish there was a candidate I could vote FOR, maybe this time it will happen...
Since only about 1/3 of people that could vote do...voter turnout is VERY important for both parties of course. I do think those that stay home help get sorry people elected. I can say I understand how they feel but the truth is their votes could keep people like Obama from being elected so I don’t agree with them.
I will not stay home but I absolutely will not vote for another Rino again. I refuse to compromise my principles for “the party” once again. I refuse to once again vote for the lesser of two evils because in the end you still end up with evil. If the Republicans end up nominating a RINO they are pretty well finished in my book anyway. They obviously haven’t been listening to the Tea Party.
I believe that’s what happened in 06 and 08.
However, two words could still get me to pull the lever for Romney: Supreme Court.
Repost from elsewhere:
I will not vote for Romney, not even to get rid of Obama, because Romney is not significantly better. I don’t believe that Romney hates America like Obama does, but I also don’t believe Romney will govern differently except to move us toward socialism slightly slower than Obama. No thank you, I’ll write in Palin/Cain or DeMint/Bachmann before voting for a big government liberal who happens to have the “R” rather than a “D” after his name.
I’m still going to the polls though. I’m voting for the Congress, the Senate, and all the other down-ticket elections, where we need real Americans to stop Washington, whether the federal government is led by Obama or Romney. I hope every patriotic American on FR will join me.
