Lesser of Two Evils? Or stay home from voting?

Posted on 10/04/2011 11:11:37 PM PDT by Lily4Jesus

Quick simple inquiry ...

My wife spends a lot more time here on Freepers than I but we both love you all.

We have an impasse .... she says that if the right tea party candidate (not Romney, Christie, etc) is not the final candidate against Obama, then many people (assuming she is talking about people here on Freepers) will simply NOT vote, i.e. will stay home from voting ...

Is that true? I mean, for example, if we end up with two 'pro-choice' candidates to vote for (Obama and someone with an R next to their name) would I as a pro-life voter simply stay home? Heck no ... I would vote for the 'lessor of two evils', the one with the "R" (God forbid it's a RINO!)

Just curious as to what peoples sentiments are here ... also will help me understand what circles my wife's been talking! ;-)

Hey, RonDog, hope all is well with you!!!

It doesn’t really matter anyway, because no Republican will ever win CA again, due to the vast illegal population.

I'd bet that prop 187 would win in California again if it was on the ballot this year. The problem is that Republicans consistently put forward liberals or people with no personality to run for state offices in this state. In the recall election for Davis, well more than half of the electorate voted for a Republican.

Run a campaign in the state with solid conservative viewpoint, and you've got a shot at winning. But the hallmark of the typical Republican run in California has long been how to be not quite as liberal as the Democrat running.

If my only option other than Obama is a cat turd, I will vote for the cat turd.

Anyone staying home next year should be banned from complaining about Obama on this site.

I would vote for BTK killer or madoff over Obama if I had to in order to get rid of MaoBama.

ROFL! The cat turd would be marginally more effective at governing (and marginally less offensive) than the Kenyan.

Besides, who says a little government turdlock would be a bad thing?

I would not NOT vote.

If the two parties offer Tweedledum and Tweedledee - again - I may vote third party, independent or write in. Not voting may encourage the nomenklatura to think we have given up, or are apathetic. Actively shoving their bowl of congealed slop back in their collective face puts them on notice that THEY are unacceptable. At this point, the only GOP candidates I absolutely and positively cannot vote for are of course Romney, and just for comedy relief, Huntsman and Roehmer.

Yes, I could vote for Gingrich.

Yes, I could vote for Paul.

Yes, I could vote for Perry.

Not happily, maybe not even sober, but I could.

But Romney? No. I will crawl over broken glass to vote AGAINST both Romney and Obama.
