After Wednesday's all-day drama surrounding Saturday's Tea Party rally in Indianola, Iowa -- with headliner Sarah Palin reportedly ready to cancel her scheduled appearance -- Palin's fans were understandably perplexed.
It appeared that the event's organizers, a new group called Tea Party of America founded by Ken Crow, had provoked an unnecessary controversy by a last-minute decision to add former Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell to the rally schedule. Tuesday, O'Donnell was disinvited and then re-invited, and by Wednesday morning, Palin's participation in the event was reported to be "on hold." Then O'Donnell was finally disinvited and, at last word, Palin had agreed to go on with Saturday's show.
The very public controversy seemed almost perfectly calculated to promote the media's stereotype of Palin as difficult and demanding. NBC News reported:
Tea Party of America President Ken Crow told NBC News, "I had to cancel Ms. O'Donnell" after a conversation with Sarah Palin aides - and is now hopeful Palin will attend the Saturday rally in Indianola.
He was told by Palin's team that he'd have a final answer shortly.
This comes after failed Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell was in, then out, then back in, and now indefinitely out. And Palin was in, then "on hold."
Daily Caller reported:
An organizer of the much-publicized tea party rally in Iowa this weekend says Sarah Palin would not be doing herself any favors if she drops out of the event.
"I hope that isn't so...It would hurt her more than hurt us," event organizer Ken Crow, the co-founder and president of the Tea Party of America, told TheDC...

bump.
It’s going to be a very interesting speech on the 3rd. Gov Palin is aware of all of this crap; she’s not responded personally (that I’ve seen) but I hope she takes the opportunity on Sunday to completely gut this Ken Crow in her brilliant style of doing so...or as blunt as clubbing a fish in the head; which she also knows how to do.
As far as O’Donnell, remember, it was an ‘aide’ that made claims about ‘sharing’ the stage.
It just seems that the aides in both camps and Crow created this entire debacle. Heads should roll in the camps and as far as Crow...see previous comment.
Watching Palin these many months, it would not surprise me if she doesn’t personally contact O’Donnell and invite her to speak for a few minutes.
For me that is one of the main factors for supporting him over the rest of the candidates, declared or not.
You mean the one that promised not to run for President if he elected governor again?
Well, no duh. But Crow is meanwhile trying to spin this as an aw shucks were just ordinary folks thing, when Crow is the know-it-all self-promoter who got himself into a position where hes clearly over his head.
Yee-Haw! You're a TEA PARTY patriot!
>>> “ Perry is not in top 3.” <<<
While I may be saddened at your direction and concede that whoever your top three are, they are laudibly conservative, deserve the White House and need to be heard, I must say that the Obama campaign & Norah O’Donnell will be delighted to hear of your voting preferences. :(
If she decides not to run, I hope she's open to serving as the chair of the RNC.
BTW, I thing this public ruckus over first being invited and then dis-invited just because another candidate is P.O.'d about the first invite is just downright childish and petty in nature. I think some people are more impressed with themselves than other folks are with them, IMHO.
She has remained above the fray. She never said she was backing out! The TEA PARTY event is for her! She is the keynote speaker! She would never disappoint the thousands of her supporters coming to see her!
The liar Crow made that ugly, ludicrous claim. He's a Perry supporter.
I posted the picture and link to the story about him yesterday on another thread, but you can see the picture of Crow and Perry and read the article HERE.
I suspect the closest to an actual founder would be Rick Santelli, the CNBC analyst who exploded with a wonderful rant on air.
The opportunists and political attention seeking whores $aw an opportunity and ran with it. During the last election cycle some of these groups backed some really bad candidates and ended up making things worse.
A lot of these Tea Party money grubbing whores don’t have a clue in political strategy at all. It’s an all or nothing approach that scares less conservative and moderates away. The dems have gotten where they are incrementally. Seriously, who would have thought a few years ago that we would elect a marxist with a muslim upbringing to the WH? The party had a goal and focused on it until they succeeded in electing that POS.
The TP is being relentlessly bashed in the MSM. The TP is not currently active and therefore there's no alternative narrative.

I agree, but wonder if the AZ move including Bristol’s has been about replacing McCain. Just a thought. Sarah knows her negatives nationally are at the ankle, but with the McCain machine behind her in AZ it could be an opportunity. The big fish in a smaller pond thing, as a state senator, lets her rehabiltate her polling problems nationally. IMHO.
Well, whatever her original plan was for the event, I think that Crow has effectively scuttled it. She certainly can't announce her candidacy there now since it would be tainted by this whole unsavory little affair.
Could be a blessing in disguise since it will give the RINOs currently in the race more time to flame out before she absolutely has to declare due to legal deadlines.
I don’t know wtf is going on in Iowa but I’ve cancelled my plans to attend. It’s too damn far to drive for a cluster f#@k.
As I’ve stated before, I only have one candidate and that is Palin. Should she not run, I’m giving up on politics and just enjoy my retirement.
He’s on his 4th term as governor, not in his first half term. If you think the people of Texas are naive about this you are mistaken. It’s much easier to win the next election if you have won the last one. He won by a large margin.
Remember he’s actually having to deal with the fallout of the Marxist in Chief’s war on jobs and he’s got a long and proven track record of visiting other states and countries to entice them to move to Texas because Texas is number one in the country as being business friendly. Hey, we need that skill nationally now, not how to star in a reality television show.

UPDATE III: From the Wall Street Journal article, which has since been corrected, but which gives this background on the previously reported cancellation:
The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire. Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. Its also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said. The former governors team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. ODonnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. ODonnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy. A Tea Party of America leader told Ms. Palins aides that the former governor told him to re-invite Ms. ODonnell, which is not true, the person said, adding that there were also issues over fund-raising and logistical changes that were not approved by Ms. Palins team.
The Senate is no place for an executive. It would be a waste of her abilities.
