He’s far more conservative than Romney. And he can take the election over Obama.

So what’s the problem?

Perry's not my first choice and I won't vote for him in the primary, but if he wins it I can easily and enthusiastically support him.

He isn't perfect, but he is on the right side of almost every big issue I care about.

When did we start to believe anything aired by CBS?

Perry gives me the creeps. I sense from him a slippery, sneaky, uneasy energy from him. I felt the same thing many years ago when I first saw Bill Clinton on TV as one of about 6 possible candidates.

At the time I also emphatically declared, “That guy’s a snake! Never will the American people elect Bill Clinton.”

(I’m a good judge of character, but a bad judge of the electorate.)

I didnt find this article very convincing. For example, one of the proposed skeletons is that Perry was a RAT until 1989.

Hell, I was a RAT in 1989 myself. But today I am the polar opposite.

Texas is required to have a balanced budget.
A budget is passed every two years.

A lot of the budget is healthcare, which can be very unpredictable, especially due to the large illegal population.

Sales tax revenues have been way down due to the bad economy. Additionally we can’t predict the damage done by hurricanes and other natural disasters either.

As long as he makes the economy his priority, and reigning in the size of the Federal Government the centerpiece of his Administration, I’ll gladly ignore any possible social issues that some would have problems with.

To address the social ills of the US, we first must HAVE a US - and unless we solve the economic crisis barreling at us full-steam-ahead, we’re not going to have to worry about much other than the next meal, and trying to defend yourself and loved ones.

Good article. One of the rare times that the MSM has done its job. If we had reporting like this here in Texas, we would have disposed of Governor Perry years ago.

...but they’ve given him a free pass here. I guess, nationally, he’ll be called to answer for some the hair-brained schemes he’s imposed (or nearly imposed, or attempted to impose) on us.

Funny thing:

FreeRepublic seems to regard conservative blogs and Webzines as their personal enemies, even when they want to cooperate with FR and promote it... CBS draws research from from conservative blogs... FreeRepublic plays up CBS and gives them advertising revenue.

Anyone want to ‘splain-it-to-me?

(Pinging the GulagBound ping list.)

Also pinging the one who seems to be FR’s resident thug in chief, humblegunner.

I'd rather not see her skeleton - I like what's covering it:

In terms of political salesmanship, that's a compliment. Wouldn't bother me at all. It's like this: "He may be a grifter, but he's our grifter." The whole business is a swindle. What do you expect?

Reagan was a Democrat until 1962 and then less than 20 years later he was President.

Make and hair dye? How many women DON'T use those?

Fat? Really? I think she's healthy - not Kate Moss thin, not Oprah fat:

Lingerie? If I'm lucky, yes...;)

That is precisely what I thought when I first saw Bill Clinton—and the feeling that Perry gives me as well.
