For the GOP, it's Romney, Bachmann and, maybe, Perry (Sexist, racist & wrong - the Trifecta!)
The Los Angeles Times ^ | June 30, 2011 | Doyle McManus

A few weeks ago, the race for the Republican presidential nomination was a jumble of candidates, none of whom seemed to be winning the party's hearts or minds: Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich. For a moment, some GOP voters even pinned their hopes on pizza magnate Herman Cain, mostly because he didn't sound — or look — like the others.

But now, if you talk with Republican political professionals, the GOP race has suddenly settled into a contest among only two or three potential nominees.

There's Romney, still the front-runner, stolidly running a cautious and conventional campaign.

There's Michele Bachmann, the "tea party" insurgent, who jumped into the first tier with a crisp performance at the June 13 debate in New Hampshire.

And waiting in the wings, there's Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, who is considering a run for the White House.

All the other possibilities have been eclipsed, the GOP pros say. Pawlenty, the former governor of Minnesota who was once seen as a strong candidate, has lost ground by appearing uncertain about his own economic policies and how tough he wanted to be in his critique of Romney. Jon Huntsman, the former governor of Utah, is trying to win the nomination as a moderate and is openly courting non-Republican independents, a strategy the pros think is doomed. Gingrich couldn't even get his campaign staff to follow him. Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, has convinced political strategists (and many voters) that she's not serious about running.....

This is exactly correct. Those 3 are the only ones I see battling it out now. The rest of them are going nowhere and are irrelevant.

America will vote for Obama before Romney.

And write in “Gov. Palin” before both.

Do you think that Governor Sarah Palin “waited too long” and all her “fans” have gone to Rep. Michele Bachmann, as many in the press claim?

I’m sorry, Mitt Roney has absolutely no meaning to me.

Anyone STUPID enough to believe in Glowbull warming, and anyone STUPID enough to believe that the pathetic, corrupt, inept, STUPID, useless US federal government ought to have any action in correcting Glowbull temperature averages ought to be disqualified from being a cashier at Circle-K, much less president of the United States.

Mitt, I wouldn’t vote for you to shine my shoes, or anyone else like you.

Yes, she has.

Well according to well know Iowa know-hows, Palin apparently has an extensive and deep grassroots organization there that does more and is bigger than the "officially announced" candidates staff does...hmmm!

Romney Care!

Any "Conservative Republican" who loves Romney is usually a fat woman who thinks Romney is "handsome." That is my truthful experience.

Bachmann ,Palin, Cain and Paul

They won’t all be in after the first couple of primaries, caucuses.

At some point the tea party will all be supporting one candidate.

If the tea party is as strong now as 2010, or stronger, the tea party plus the official campaign of the tea party conservative left standing will be strong enough to defeat the establishment RINO left standing.

I agree. If the Republican establishment somehow manages to give Romney the nomination, they will lose the Tea Party.

More than any other year in modern history, a third party candidate has a significant chance of winning the presidency in 2012.

2012 is a watershed year. It’s almost our last chance to get our government under control. We can’t afford to have more of the same with Obama or Romney. Many people on the Right and Middle understand that and will join a third party movement.
